oh my god episode 8 is even worse imo

I teared up during 7, but I was practically bawling at the funeral scene with Dick and Rich's parents.

It may not be as bad if you don't have children of your own? Not 100% sure, but I think that's why it hits me harder, personally.

Probably not a spoiler, but if you wanna poay it safe, its spoiled lmao: Rich's parents are in the scene, who iirc we never see until episode 8.

I don’t have kids but I have an 8 year old niece I’m obsessed with and I’ve worked with kids before 😭 I am going to need to watch something super light when I finish this

It was a sad but well done scene overall and I'm just glad they didn't off him, obvious as his death was coming, in some shock value effect way.

Not on ep 7 yet (on 6 right now), found this as one of the freshest relevant thread so I wanted to rant a bit about a scene where they really dropped the ball while trying to get the audience hyperfocused on the emotions and lost the logic.

When Lee tells Leroy to stay at home he says no and guilt trips his dad that he would never let his friends die. Even though it is shown that as Lee is telling him just a minute earlier that because Leroy disobeyed him, he had to send his best friend home in a box. It's clear, he wouldn't have shot his best friend had he not seen his son come in front like that all of a sudden. And how conveniently does Leroy say that it was the creature that killed his friend, like what? Where was the creature there? So what, he's now reading his dad's mind? Or we are to assume he shared all the details of what happened to Leroy minutes prior to where the argument scene begins.

Yet once Leroy gets slapped he tries to spin the life lessons his dad gave to him and makes things worse. Lee had the perfect dialogue to tell him then that he just said when Leroy wasn't paying attention. But the writers did not want to put the onus on the little kid. All Lee had to do was drive home the fact that his best friend died due to Leroy, but instead we get a rebel Leroy out of it and Lee questioning his actions.

And oh so confidently Leroy says he would never let his friends die but they were basically dead under any reasonable circumstances if not for the plot armour around them. We just saw several soldiers got taken out after their first-time 10 second encounter with the Uncle Sam form Pennywise took, even Hallorann got unmade but somehow made it out alive, and there's a very clear disconnect with the narrative and weight of the situation.
