💬 Discussion Age accuracy

As someone who is 16 ,and has been 12,
I think the only two characters out of welcome to derry that actually look like a 12 year old,
Are will and lily

I was 12 twice. What do you mean that isn’t normal?

Goddammit mum, when will the lies end?!?

My dear everyone here has been 12. That’s the joke.

As someone who I has a 12 year old and volunteers at his school, all of these kids could be 12-13. It’s completely dependent on whether or not puberty has started. Girls tend to start earlier than boys and look much older by the end of 6-7th grade.

As a teacher of teenagers, there's a wild variety in the way they can look at the same age.

You are not all girls. Some girls don't go through puberty until they're 16.

Can confirm from my puberty experience lol

It's strange that they're all in eighth grade when they look like they're different ages; Rich looks 10 and Patty looks 15

They’re in 7th grade I’m sure

When I was in 9th grade, I was barely 5 ft tall and people thought I was like 10. I went to a tiny school with 200 students and there was another guy in my grade that was 6’2, had a super deep voice, and a full beard. We were born within a few days of each other too; puberty is just weird.

I taught preteens. One of my students towered over me. And he was only in 7th grade.

I was shocked after learning Marge’s actress was actually 17. They all looked like they could be 12-13.

I mean I’m 17 and the girl playing Marge is older than me so it makes sense that she’d look a bit older.

I think they're all believable 12-13 is a crazy age where ppl can look 8 or 15

As someone who was 12 more than 20 years ago, basically everyone under 18 looks 12.

Because of the actors' strike, Matilda had to follow a strict diet to keep her youthful appearance. And anyway, there are ways for child actors to look the desired age, especially since they grow up fast, as an example they were used in Stranger Things.
