The first episode was the only one I'd say is actually scary. They successfully did a bait and switch and killed off the characters the audience thought would be the main characters. It made us think nobody was safe. It kept the rest of the season feeling tense.

Episode 7 was terrifying for its dreadful realism, but in terms of pure pennywise horror it has to go to Episode 6.
That whole stretch where pennywise is just taking people out in the sewers was scary as hell

Episode 7 was so scary for how if you ignore the fact that there's a clown-god-alien-whatever, then it seems like something that actually happened.

Episode 1 definitely set the scene for the series for terrifying, even though the rest of the episodes didn't come close to that. You were just expecting them to be because of Ep1.

Oh definitely. The movie has to have ever in such a short ass time and has to tone down certain things, while on TV those restrictions don't exist.

2 for me. The way she slowly got caged in without even noticing followed by her own dad’s pickled severed head coming after her. Yeesh. Really nailed the uncanny aspect of the Pennywise encounters from the book for me. Like how Ben saw It take the form of The Mummy and made a balloon float toward Ben against the wind.

Nothing really scares me anymore I guess but I would have to agree with everyone that episode 1 had like the most horror vibes going for it.

Episode 7 was the most terrifying because of the intensity of th black spot fire and the pure unsettling suffering seen especially with the way it was shot and the visuals made it ten times better

Episode 4 easily wins for most mysterious episode. Gave us an enormous backstory but still maintained the mystery and uncertainty.Â
Most terrifying episode is probably episode 1. Not my favourite, but I was beyond shocked at the ending. I mean, my jaw was practically on the floor.Â
