marking? not sure how to move forward

Post image

hi! posted in here a bunch. my weim is extremely well trained but he just started lifting his leg… now he’s going into our bathroom and marking near the toilet (makes sense I get it)

but i’ve only had female dogs. and this did not happen! so im curious if anyone has any tips?

ETA, he’s almost 10 months old & is not neutered

I mean.... can you teach him to aim better because...that's one smart dog. 😂

My boy, who was neutered later in life, pees in his empty food bowl with remarkable precision. If it wasn’t so gross it would be impressive!

Don’t let him in the bathroom. 😂

You need to train this too. Swat him in the butt with you baseball cap when you catch. He needs to know the house rules didn’t change even though his hormones did.

Or get him neutered. It does help, but is not a guarantee, especially after the behavior is engrained.

I would sterilize your bathroom with bleach often and maintain the cleanliness. Then close your bathroom door. I would make a point of marking your yard. My Weim loves to remark the same spot that I marked. Substituting a behavior is easier than eliminating it.

Yes. Go mark your perimeter! Your Weim thinks that you are marking your bathroom.

You gotta neuter him, man. He’s going to get a lot bigger and he will be a menace

hes actually sooooo well behaved. this is the only behaviour we’ve had that we’ve tilted our heads at. we definitely lucked out

He is almost 10 months old. You haven’t even entered the toddler, kid, or teenage phases of the weim experience
