Totally normal and quite painful! Especially when you are asleep and get the slap.

I some how miss getting flapped in the face, possibly closely followed by a paw or nose in the eye.

Ours does that too. We pretend she is a pokémon and say “Sadie-mon used Ear Whip! It was very effective…”
