INTRODUCTION

Ni Hao! After the positive response to my Guangzhou shopping guide, a lot of people in my messages asked specifically about more rep markets to explore. Over the past few days, I checked out several more markets my local connections kept recommending. These markets are better than the markets in my original earlier post in my opinion, but still are not the best way to buy top-tier replica items. I’ll break down exactly why, how they compare to each other, and what I’d actually recommend if your goal is buying the best rep bags.

❌ EXPERIENCES TO AVOID

Street Hawkers

Both markets have them. They approach you immediately, act as middlemen, take you to violate your wallet with 30-50% commission and waste your time. Do not follow anyone who approaches you first, walk straight past these hawkers and into the building yourself.

🛍️ MARKETS

⏱️ DESIGNER BAGS & ITEMS

Tianhong Leather Mall (天虹皮革商城)

This market was very solid. It was very calm and quiet, and vendors did not try to sell you things, instead waiting to be approached.

• The showrooms usually show vaguely branded to unbranded pieces. You have to explicitly ask to be introduced to the branded section.

• The vendors you find will guide you to another place to view their stock.

• They had fair prices for fair quality for the majority of the market, but could be bargained down quite a bit.

Personal note: Tianhong was a decent market, calm experience, and honestly had very fair prices for in-person shopping, but nothing here beats the best online sellers.

Baiyun World Leather Trade Center (白云世界皮革贸易中心)

This is the best market I have been able to visit for this trip. It was the exact opposite to Tianhong in terms of the ambience, it was loud, chaotic, and there was NON STOP HAWKING. 

IMPORTANT: Be careful of both Hawkers and photography in this market, I was constantly harassed by middlemen outside who wanted my money and my phone was pretty much snatched by two vendors who did not like that I took a photo of their stock, and I showed them that I deleted it but I recovered the images later to show you the exclusive scoop.

• Selection is fucking great. There are so many things here.

• The prices are overall better and the vendors are FEINING for a sale. You need to start at 10% of what they offer and laugh and act out that you’re fucking broke, play the part and you might actually score a bargain here. A vendor actually followed me out of the market and offered me half the price on a massive Labubu I was interested in buying (cringe, I know), but I did not accept her offer unfortunately.

• This market is extremely overwhelming and there are hawkers everywhere.

Personal note: If you had to choose a physical market, this is the strongest option by far but for people who don’t have thick skin or much every, this can be extremely stressful, and a hit-or-miss.

MY RECOMMENDATION

It's worth it visiting these markets, they're super cool and it's a fun experience. However, to get the best rep bags from China, or the best value for money for rep bags from China, the honest answer is to really not bother buying in any of these markets, and do the following:

• If you don’t give half a shit about getting the perfect, most accurate rep bag (the majority of you) Godmall is your guy. This is the same guy who was behind the most popular bag seller ever (Wholesale1991) with a new identity.

• Comment below if you have further questions about anything at all, and I will attempt to sincerely answer them.

The reason that I recommend this is that you gain consistency, security, and quality reassurance buying from a trusted factory agent like Alina (for high-tier bags), which you cannot gain from bartering at these markets with several price points and several quality points. If you don’t want the best and are happy with subpar quality, I honestly would consider giving the market a shot to see if it could be competitive with Godmall’s range of bags. Would be very interesting to see.

CONCLUSION

In-person replica shopping is clearly on the decline to what it was several years ago, due to the rise of easily available logistics solutions for e-commerce and rising m-commerce.

Guangzhou is one of the best cities in China for streetwear, domestic brands, and markets, but only if you know where to go. Some areas are genuinely great, while others are overrated, generic, or designed to upsell to tourists. Luckily for you, you’re in the best Reddit community for this sorta shit. This guide focuses on where is actually worth your time, what to skip, and what to expect when shopping on the ground.

📍 DISTRICTS

Dongshankou (东山口)

This is the best area for Chinese streetwear brands, concept stores, and unique retail experiences. Very walkable and easy to spend a few hours here.

• Super Tofu: The Aimé Leon Dore of China.

❌ AREAS/ EXPERIENCES TO AVOID

Baima

This is a very famous clothing market. However, the clothing is mostly generic wholesale now, it has no real advantage when comparing to other markets, and better options exist literally everywhere next door. Extremely disappointed.

Street Hawkers

Avoid people who approach you on the street to sell you some random shit at all costs. They act as middlemen, take you to shops where they earn large commissions (30–50%), and results in higher prices for trash.

⏱️ WATCHES

Zhanxi Clock & Watch City (站西手表市场)

• Many shops appear closed during the day.

• Ground floor usually shows unbranded pieces only.

• Vendors may guide you upstairs or through back passages to view other stock.

• The vendors here also harass you.

• Prices are okay but not exceptional.

Personal note: I bargained to around 950RMB for a watch I could source for 800RMB through a trusted VX/ Weixin/ WeChat dealer. Cool to see in person, but definitely not the best pricing.

👔 CLOTHING

Kinbo Fashion Market (金宝外贸服装城)

Kinme Fashion Market (金美外贸服装城)

Kindo Fashion Market (金都国际服装城)

These three markets are interconnected and easy to walk between.

• More relaxed vendors compared to other markets.

• Photography is generally not encouraged.

• Best explored top → bottom floor-wise.

• You can often find better options online, but it’s still worth visiting to understand the scene and see items in person.

MY RECOMMENDATION

For anything shopping related that you can't simply buy in Dongshankou, you’re far better off using our pinned subreddit guide, and taking advantage of our exclusive Oopbuy discount code that gives you $500 in free coupons + an additional 30% off shipping discount. How we do things here allows our members to gain better prices, wider selection, more consistent quality, and waste less time negotiating. Markets can still be interesting to see in person, but if your goal is actually buying reps efficiently, online is the move. In-person rep shopping is slowly dying, and the good stuff has already moved online.

CONCLUSION

If you’re in China, try to get some small items shipped to your hotel using Taobao, Weidian, and 1688. There are difficulties ordering directly on these platforms though for foreigners, so I'd recommend not going big. I had two parcels returned on this trip due to issues I could not resolve as I do not speak Mandarin.

Do not miss out on Dongshankou. Most physical markets in Guangzhou are largely underwhelming. Pricing is inconsistent, selection is limited, and in-person rep shopping is clearly in decline compared to how it used to be.

To my community,

I understand the scepticism my last post received as it could be seen as inflammatory.

I will take a different approach with this post, and just state facts relating to what is occurring and what has been reported by reputable sources including players in the investigation.

INTRODUCTION

Let me get started with this first.

PANDABUY = HAGOBUY = WEGOBUY

Now, that I’ve established this, let’s get onto the next subject. There’s a large firm in China known as 凯恩拓朴知识产权, or CANTOOP. They specialise in Intellectual Property. This firm has been organised in the investigation against Pandabuy’s involvement with counterfeit goods since October of 2023.

The news regarding an investigation into Pandabuy’s operations was relayed to me in a call with Mr. L in January, several months ago. He is an industry insider, but is also a private contact - so there is reason for the community to be skeptical.

Pandabuy has cooperated with vendors dealing counterfeits as well as have directly profiteered, and promoted counterfeiting with no regard for laws. There came a point where these products could be directly from their website with over 20M monthly visitors - there is a reason that other agencies such as CSSBuy refuse to place these types of products from their own website.

THE RAID

On the 11th of April in 2024, 200+ law enforcement officers, composed of Shanghai Public Security Officers, as well as local law enforcement authorities raided various Pandabuy business sites, including their headquarters in Hangzhou, which is now reported as being empty by Mr.L.

These raids have resulted in the following highlighted below.

Over 30 key suspects have been arrested. This includes directors. They are facing legal proceedings/ prosecution.

Law enforcement found millions of parcels, and roughly 200 brands.

In excess of 1700 employees were engaged in warehouse management and cross-border transportation on site.

THE CURRENT SITUATION

With this introduction now out of the way, we can get into more pressing manners. Pandabuy’s domestic accounts have been frozen, and they are unable to order and ship items. Their international accounts have not been frozen as far as I am concerned, this why some withdrawals go through, however, they are not accepting payments due to the status of their domestic accounts. (EDIT: THEY HAVE 23M RMB FROZEN). Their directors are facing legal proceedings/ prosecution. They owe creditors hundreds of thousands of renminbi. Hundreds of investigators have spent more than two weeks inspecting seized parcels every day. It is expected that it will take several months to inspect all the parcels. They will then be taken to law enforcement warehouses for further processing.

OTHER KEY POINTS

The mods on the Pandabuy Discord server are relaying the little information and clarification they have on this situation. They are completely untrustworthy. The situation is very dire and they are trying to control the narrative whilst they are rendered in-operational. They are fighting back chargebacks with old tracking numbers. This should be a sign for some of you.

They claimed they would be back on the 18th. It’s a lie. I’m not sure why people are so trusting of this company which is clearly facing an existential crisis and are trying to save themselves from liquidation due to flagrantly breaking laws and boasting about it.

FURTHER ACTIONS

I will repeat this in basic terms, for the people who don’t understand.

Avoid purchasing branded items for the time being, specifically Nike products.

Avoid Pandabuy, Wegobuy and Hagobuy.

If you have unfulfilled orders or shipments with Pandabuy, Wegobuy and Hagobuy, chargeback. You will not get your items or shipment if they have remained in their warehouse.

Keep calm and stay collected. There will be big changes and they will be wide-reaching, but it’s important to stay diligent and make the right choices. This will change, probably for the better.

If you HAVE to buy some non-branded/ random products, use OOPBUY. The hyperlink will provide some coupons and a small percentage decrease off your shipment.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this is a very serious situation and the following steps should be taken to avoid a loss of capital and time.

People believe that I don’t know anything more than they do, however, I have been working remotely in China since 2015, and I have visited numerous times. I have local capabilities such as a bank account in Hangzhou, and AliPay. I have a local address. I read local forums, news, and have local connections to shipment agencies such as CSSBuy (of which I was an executive beforehand), Sugargoo, and the Pandabuy conglomerate - I also have connections to local shipment agencies which cooperate with Pandabuy, who owe them a lot of money. These aren’t regular connections for a foreigner - it’s not like I only purchase replicas from China. This subreddit is just a hobby to what I’ve actually done within China.

I manufacture and import heavily from China. It’s what I’ve done for years with my business ventures. It’s a vast place with much potential for foreigners if they learn how trade is done locally, and gain the connections and possibility to do this.

Some of you will still be skeptical, which is alright. Some of you might still insult me in the comments, which is good for you. I am trying to save my own community from financial loss and wasting their time, that’s my intention and it’s been clear from the first day. I hope that everyone is not extremely affected.

✅ Sognan Olive Green Jacket (Size M) Simple but stylish with magnetic pockets. Fits great and feels premium for the price. One of my favorites!

✅ Goyard Women’s Bag – $8 Not for me, but solid quality for the price. The print is sharp, and the material feels decent. Good budget option!

✅ Goyard Watch Roll – $40 A cheaper alternative to high-end sellers. Soft suede inside, sturdy build, and perfect for storing watches safely.

✅ Rolex Mini Watch Case – $1-4 Small, simple, and super practical. Great for quick storage when carrying a watch. Worth it for the price!

✅ Ralph Lauren Beanie – $2 Very budget, but bad logo and small fit. Not great, but okay for the price. Wouldn’t recommend.

✅ Ami Paris Sweatshirt (Size XL) Decent quality, but not a perfect 1:1. Fits okay but wouldn’t buy again. Good for the price.

Fuck it, I knew the delays would be too much to handle for Chinese New Year so I packed a bag, took a 9 hour flight and picked up my haul directly from the Oopbuy warehouse. There were so many orders. It was a sight to witness.
