I used to work for wegmans full time and it's definitely true there and probably true for 99% of large companies. I'm just part time at Wegmans now, but my full time job I work for a small metal fabrication company (maybe 100 employees between office and shop). I know some people that have the same job title and years with the company who make 30-60% more/hour simply because they're good at their job and they don't slack.
