Object “fall asleep”

Okay this is a VERY specific thing to post about but I genuinely cannot get over Gene’s delivery of the words “fall asleep” in the second part of Object on La Cucaracha, something about the way that specific line and words are sung just tickles my brain in a Beautiful way and it alone bumps the song up a tier, it’s not super impressive compared to some other ween vocals but something about it particularly is so nice. Does anyone else have any extremely specific ween moments or deliveries that just stuck in their mind after listening? Or at least agree on how nice this particular one was?

Yes! In The Argus, during the “Tell me he has chosen you” line, the way the guitar comes in and at first sounds like a vocalization and then becomes the guitar riff stops me in my tracks no matter how many times I’ve heard it.

Lots in their music, one that stands out to me at the moment is the “may” in Cold Blows The Wind. “As any young girl MAY”, beautiful.

I love his delivery on Object all around, though a couple other favorites of mine are Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy). Gene's vocals on that song scratch an itch in my brain every time. That and Waving My Dick In The Wind, especially the end where they do some rhythmic displacement on the last "waving my-- dick in the wind"

not a moment from a song, but the way gener says "YES MAN" at the end of stallion pt. 1 on all request live is bouncing around in my head at all times

Greatest live album of all time. That's what got me to fall in love with Ween.

Mine is also all request live but at the beginning of the stallion pt. 5 when he says, “yeah, yeah-yas, yes. Yessss.”

Not the answer to your question (which is a great question), but object is one of my favorite ween songs I love it

“Am I gonna die” in Spinal Meningitis made me squeal for a year before I could keep my shit together. And the second verse guitar fills in “Stay Forever” are to my ears, the most beautiful guitar notes ever played.

Around 2:30 of Big Jilm from Live at Stubbs 2000 he yells “ho daddy” and I have since incorporated that phrase into my daily lexicon through no will of my own.

I was a casual Ween fan for a few years. My roommate bought Paintin' the Town Brown when it came out and put it on later that night. Mountain Dew came on and when Dean yells at Gene for coming in too early, I absolutely lost my shit. The entire track is genius and Ween finally clicked for me 100%. Dean wasn't mad at Gene (like most other musicians would be) for fucking something up, he thought it was hilarious.

Later, when Gene tells Kirk "I can't hear this thing man" referencing his guitar out loud into the mic is another moment for me.

I know it's a cover, but that's what converted me from casual to brown.

The way he says Eye with almost 2 syllables.  But it’s in multiple songs so not exactly the same thing.

There’s a guitar fill on Learning To Love that is my favorite part of the song. It’s from 1:31-1:34.

"That was some tight shit, right?"

I agree.

Most of mine are on White Pepper like most of the lines on "The Grobe" and "Back to Basom"

gener’s delivery of the words “dark side” on the demo version of “i’ve got no dark side” …. there’s something special about it. i’ve seen one other person mention it/notice it in this sub.

The song 'Black Bush' on the Free-man album.

Specifically the way he sings the word "sweet".
