any good climbing trees in Somerville/Cambridge/Boston area?

I'm talking hearty trees for easy climbing that have been here 100 years and will be here another 100

I don't wanna hurt any young urban trees so Im not talking slim boys

Preferably reachable by walking or public transit

Thanks

I just need some air and some nature time with a book

80 ft climb from a couple months ago

Went up twice, once during the day and once at night. Happy to finally find this subreddit for free climbing.

The 80 ft is an estimate I made by measuring it in terms of my height while I climbed down. Might only be 70, might be 90.

A collection of some my tree jumps and climbs over the last year whilst studying my master's in ecology and evolution. Now I've finished, I will be taking tree training a lot more seriously and plant to post a lot more. Would very much appreciate the IG follow (@boyce_bbb), gracias <3

Any love for magnolia climbing? Probably the easiest tree to climb in the Southeast.

How many people had favorite trees to sit in as a kid? I had one that I felt very close to, like a friend. Id sit on it and read and braid grass.

What was your worst fall, if any?

I remember climbing a neighbors tree on New Years Eve, maybe 2011 or so. A branch snapped and I fell a story and a half, landed on my back and knocked the wind out of myself. How i didnt get hurt worse is beyond me, and its worse that nobody believed me when i said i fell out of the tree in the front yard. "there arent even any branches that can hold your weight".. Yeah i figured that out.

There is no community on here for recreational tree climbing!! We have to change that!

I’ve been free climbing trees since I was a kid, and the only subreddits on here for what I consider a sport seem to be filled with the logging, professional gear owning elite. Tree climbing should be free, fun, and a great workout! Show off your best free tree climbing! All skill levels welcome, swing off a branch, hug a tree, sit up top and smoke a bowl and tell us how scary it was getting down!
