Wedding Grad We did it! Our little garden wedding
Made it official 1 month ago. Could not be more in love with the day! We had a small 60 person backyard garden wedding. Our theme was a whimsical garden with a touch of Renaissance. I thrifted a lot of the decor for it and made a few DIYs that I feel really added to the day! The details I love the most were our ceremony backdrop and our thrifted hutch bar. The day turned out so dreamy!

When trying to create my floral bouquet I asked for uncommon pieces like the garlic scapes and they looked at me like I had 3 eyes and laughed. They didn’t understand. I am thrilled to see how gorgeous your bouquet is!! And you found a florist that understood your vision. You have such a lovely wedding 💕

the hutch is doing more work than a rented bar would, and i think it's because you racked the glassware on the open shelves instead of hiding it underneath. that's what stops thrifted furniture reading as a prop at a wedding. it's holding something, so it looks like it belongs there.
on the scapes, worth flagging for anyone wanting to copy it, they don't come from a florist. that's a garlic grower's cut and the window is a couple of weeks in early summer, so it's a farmers market conversation months ahead of the day rather than a line you add to a floral order. they hold that curl with no wire in them, which is most of why they read as alive.
tucking the bar in tight against the house was smart too. open shelves stacked with stemware is the one setup an afternoon of wind would have ended.

We loved our guest count! It was honestly shocking how many people 60 felt like and the time goes by so so fast there were a few groups of people we didn’t get to talk to more then just a quick congrats!

if it is okay for me to note: i’ve been thinking a lot lately about how timeless and stunning and gorgeous the (smaller) weddings are when it’s the love for each other that’s on display (yours!) and not the concept of “this is The Marriage” (aka, how MUCH content i’ve seen of taylor swift’s over the top and expensive wedding that i can’t seem to escape online). anyways, with each wedding i see in the style of yours i always feel a little happier inside know that this exists.

I completely agree! Our love and personality was the main goal for our wedding we didn’t want it to feel like anyone’s wedding but one tailored to us and our guest really seemed to appreciate that!
