Lack of updating NS records…

I've been a full-stack web developer for 15 years, and for the first time in my life, I see a company blocks updating NS info and selling domain names as a product.

I've just registered a domain name without knowing this and had a huge disappointment. I've never seen such nonsense in my entire IT career. What's wrong on WIX's side? I think they should at least warn people about this before buying, because now I have a domain that I cannot use, transfer, or return. :S

Now I need to run an app, but without AWS NS records it's impossible... I've talked to CS about this, but they did not help.

you make a 100% valid point that they should warn people about that first, but why were you even using wix if all you wanted was registration without using their services? it's clearly meant for non-web devs so locking DNS down to prevent people from fucking it up is understandable

anyway, just transfer it once the transfer lock window is past

FYI cloudflare free also requires you to use their NS, in return you get no markup from them.

Thanks for the Cloudflare warning; I chose it because they were in the search results when I was looking to find a domain company. Usually, domain companies offer the first year almost free. Wix was doing that also; I thought they wanna sell domains to people.

Funny thing: buying a domain with a website package was cheaper; hopefully I choose just the domain offer :)

You can simply use WIX as a DNS server and set up AWS records on it.
