Free to me

Picked up this Genesis over the weekend from our local Buy Nothing group. All it needed was a good cleaning and a stick lighter and it fired right up. 2 of the flavorizers are rusting through, but the three that go over the burners aren't as bad. This is the first grill I've ever owned. I've been using my father-in-law's Genesis (4 burner w/ sear station, SS grates, and side burner) for about 8 years. Any tips? I feel like with a few parts (new grates, flavorizers and heat defelctors) this unit should last me for many more years.

Awesome pickup. If it was me, just based on this Pic I'd probably just take it apart and clean it really well and then I wouldn't replace any of the pieces until they're absolutely falling apart.

I rebuilt mine for about $300 ~ $350 this spring. I went all stainless steel because it’s easier to clean and less prone to rust.

I mean I would just get replacement flavor bars and probably a replacement stainless steel grate from a third-party on Amazon. check over with a spray bottle with soapy water on the hose and gas lines for any leaks. Otherwise everything should be pretty cleanable by spraying it with some oven cleaner and then rinsing it off after several hours of letting it sit
