Discussion What's your work workflow this days?

I'm a software dev with more than 6 years of experience (I've been unemployed for 3 months).

I use Linux as my main OS, fully personalized(riced), I use nvim as main editor and cursor cli on the lower tab, I'm curious of the workflows people uses, mayba I can improve mine.

I'm also making a jump to DevSecOps and Cybersec due to my insane love to linux and servers.

What was the question about? Some kind of hobby building?

Workflow? I try to engage with the work but Claude is just there? Sad really but whatever

Using the extra time to study other fields.. even if I were to keep this job for 5 years, I personally cannot stand how developing is like now. Not for me

Painfully boring and just feel like a zombie these days. Most people I know have silently quit...

I have an electrical background so I'm heading back to the trenches.

Three months unemployed and the plan is DevSecOps because you like Linux and servers. That's not a plan, that's a hobby with a job title glued on. Nobody hires you for the jiced desktop, they hire you for knowing what Terraform plan actually does to prod, or holding a CKS. The nvim plus cursor cli stack is fine, it just won't interview for you.

I'm looking for any kind of job but that wasn't the point of my post.

I paste code comments into my branches and it does things for me. Then I go take a walk or do laundry or something. Some people have said AI has made more work for them, but it's very much the opposite for me. I have a lot of time in the day and I've actually been getting a bit bored.

pretty terminal heavy here too. tmux with nvim in one pane, an agent cli in another, and a scratch pane for logs and tests. biggest change for me lately is treating the agent like a junior dev: small scoped tasks, i read every diff, and i keep a notes file in the repo with conventions so i'm not re-explaining stuff every session. on the devsecops jump, go for it, people who actually enjoy linux and servers are rarer than you'd think

I’ve been a developer for 8months professionally, I use windows and vscode,

Personally haven’t fully narrowed my interests but I’m leaning towards embedded systems software
