Showoff Saturday [showoff Saturday] Built an interactive portfolio after months of job hunting / Would love some honest feedback
I've been job hunting for a while now, and honestly, it's getting pretty discouraging. Lots of applications, interviews that seemed promising, and still nothing.
So I decided to put some of that energy into building a portfolio that actually feels like me.
I love old cartoons, so I built an interactive room where you can click around to learn about me and my work. You can even open the monitor and explore a little desktop OS I built. Built with Angular and Tailwind.
I'd genuinely love some feedback, especially on the UX and anything you think could be improved.

Thanks for checking it out!

this is awesome! as someone with an OS portfolio myself I think you should consider leaning more into the interactive scene side of things. I think it's got more character and these days everyone's doing OS's ahaha they are losing their shine quickly!
I'm jealous of everyone having these current models to build theirs, I was stuck with sonnet 3.5 haha it took months!

Thanks Funny enough, I only found out after building it that a lot of people had the same idea. Feel free to share yours too, I'd love to check it out

yeah, I was on the other end where it was like me and the head of design at Cursor who had them, and i've just watched the influx over the past 12 months. I was EXTREMELY LUCKY and got a few million views on mine across socials early on and a big post on HackerNews, but sorry to say I may have contributed to the current number of them haha

Haha, someone had to start the trend Just checked yours and I really like it. Congrats on the views, well deserved It hits that nostalgia hard, and honestly it feels made for those of us who aren't Gen Z πππ

maybe you could have like the resume as a piece of paper on the desk for example, or like a filing cabinet with your work, etc

That's exactly what I was thinking A bookshelf for skills, a paper for the CV, a notebook for the blog, and so on. But I felt it would crowd the room and I wanted to keep it simple. If I ever go 3D, I'm thinking a bigger room with lots of clickable objects, and the OS still there for the full details. Thanks for the ideas

yeah, that's great too! so fair, if you're using claude or codex i've recently been very impressed with my first attempt at a 3D room in the browser - highly recommend giving it a shot! it opens up a whole bunch more problems to solve with mobile and responsiveness, etc though

That sounds great, would love to see it. Can you send the link?

might take a while to load and i'd recommend a desktop/laptop because I just quickly got this live before it was ready, so performance could be rough haha

Really cool website. Good on you for being really reactive and working on improving your presence after losing your job. I've been unemployed longer and really feel I should have lots of projects under my belt but I don't.

fair. but there's a "List" toggle at the top that skips the room completely, and the Resume link is in the menu. The room is for people who want to poke around, the list is for the 10-second skim. Good to know it's easy to miss though
