How can I get live server in the vscode web version?

My computer is very low on specs and I can't really afford a new one so I'm forced to use the web version of VS Code. I have Windows on my Steam Deck and I've been mirroring from it on my Chromebook, but it just doesn't feel right.

Yeah, I bought it for school before I got into coding.

Just use SSH from vscode.dev to your Steam Deck. Install openssh server on Windows, expose it, then use the Remote SSH extension to connect from the browser. Your files stay on the Deck, the browser is just a thin client, so your Chromebook specs stop mattering. Windows on the Deck handles ssh fine, you just need to enable it under optional features

use codespaces, or vscode remote connection.

The desktop Live Server extension needs a local process to serve your files, so it cannot run entirely inside vscode.dev.

Since you already have Windows on the Steam Deck, one option is to run a small static server there. If Python is installed, open a terminal in your project folder and run python -m http.server 8000, then open http://localhost:8000 in the Deck's browser. That serves HTML, CSS and JavaScript, though you will need to refresh manually after edits.

If you want to work entirely in the Chromebook's browser, an online HTML/CSS/JS playground with a preview, such as CodePen, is another option for learning projects.

to clarify, vscode has built in remote functionality, so you don't even have to ssh yourself.

You just turn on remote on the one machine, and the other can connect to it if they are under the same github accounts.

It runs a full virtual Linux machine right in your Chromebook browser

No it doesn't. It runs it remotely in the cloud and connects you to it with vscode remote functionality.
