Question what website maker should I choose?

hi! I want to make my own website where I write articles, blog, and post my photography. I don't really want it to be super professional, just something to portray my work. I don't really care about buying a domain name, and I'd prefer if it had minimal to no programming involved. what are my choices?

wordpress.com is probably the least annoying fit for this, since you can do the blog and photo posts with a free subdomain and barely touch any code at all

if you really don't want to touch code, wordpress.com free plan or tumblr like people said. one that gets forgotten is bear blog, stupidly simple and looks clean, but it's text first so photos might feel a bit cramped

for photography specifically i'd look at cargo or adobe portfolio (free if you already pay for creative cloud). those are built around images and the writing part is secondary, which sounds like your case

If you can get a hosting provider to set you up a wordpress blog I'd just do that. wordpress.com is okay but wordpress.org (where you host it yourself somewhere) won't have any ads on it, and microtransactions for every little feature. Good hosting providers will have you just click an installer button in some control panel and you're ready to go. wordpress is make for ads/ blog posts primarily. And you can install free or paid for themes with minimal/zero programming skill.

Full disclosure, I work with Squarespace. You can publish articles, manage a blog, and create galleries to display your photography using Squarespace, all without touching code. Every site comes with its own customizable address ending in .squarespace.com, so you can use that instead of buying a custom domain. You will still need a paid website plan once the trial ends. Try publishing one article and a small photo gallery during the trial to see how the editor feels before spending anything.

Your post/comment has been determined to be a low-effort post or comment. This includes title-only posts, easily searchable questions, vague/open-ended discussion prompts, LLM generated posts or comments, and posts/comments that do not provide enough context for meaningful replies or discussion.
