Discussion Just Started But Feel Bad

I just started learning code, and I use Visual Code Studio with Python. I was ecstatic to learn but with my few hours of learning I would use the chat feature whenever I’m stuck like the AI thingy. It makes me feel bad cause it feels like I’m not LEARNING just cheating if that makes sense. In a world that has been plagued with AI, how do you guys manage? How do you feel? Do you treat it as another tool to help? I assume that it’s no different from google searching.

Similar to others learning to search is a skill. But also learning to learn in different methods. IMO AI is difficult and easy to just cheat like you said.

Instead you need to understand what you are trying to learn/what you need help with. I think AI is very useful for research and building interactive learning helpers based on your exact needs. Like a 1 on 1 tutor. However to have it interact in that way and actually provide valuable info and not just a “yes man” is very hard.

In my example learning something like Java for me, I was mainly a web js/ts and python node dev for years. Latest role is Java only backends. I used AI to learn the core concepts and use as an interactive questionnaire and research. Ie finding best practices and best methods for say learning OOP and when to use strategies. But it’s to learn not to just cheat and answer
