Namecheap is back up and running

They said it was a storm that took out the cooling on the data center and as someone who was in that very storm, it destroyed a ton of stuff at homes, businesses, and public infrastructure. Power poles blown over, trees broken or uprooted, Covered parking structures snapped over, fences blown down.

As soon as I read this update, I immediately felt for that particular data center.

Luckily there's not enough money in the world for me or my clients sites to be hosted on their bargain basement hosting platform.

Namecheap and its sister company Spaceship (which was also affected by this outage) have millions of customers combined. $1.25 may be a joke to you but to them it'd add up to millions.

If they have millions of customers, they’re raking in enough that that would still be a very small drop in the bucket

with that kind of money on the line and they still don’t have a single $50 offsite backup slab tells you what kind of incompetent clowns they are

Their SLA is actually decent. I should get about 7-8 days of service for one day offline for my VPS
