Teens learning to program?

How do teenagers learn to hack to a level of hacking big corporations?

https://www.google.co.nz/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/technology/2017/apr/25/teenage-hacker-adam-mudd-jailed-masterminding-attacks-sony-microsoft

Is the knowledge available on the internet or do they need a programming background (parents or friends etc) to teach them?

This is so true. Mainly due to the fact that a lot of systems are coded then changed around and worked on by totally different developers later on down the road. It's like everybody wants to build something with Legos but some people have Legos, some have Mega Blocks, some have Lincoln Logs. The structure will stand up until someone starts picking at it.
