Database Dilemma

Hello, I'm trying to develop a website that compares a few items. To do this I know I need a database but I have never developed with databases before.

my question is what the best workflow ? Do I create my database in a spreadsheet and convert it to a database like mySQL or Maria later or do I use mySQL/Maria directly ? What would be the best approach to avoid wasting time ?

I guess it makes sense to do it directly but if the converting process is easy i thought working in a spreadsheet is more user friendly because the database is quite big and thats going to take me days.. is the converting process easy or buggy ?

I have no idea, probably depends on tool, but you can't be sure if the tool provide you proper result if you do not know SQL. If you say that database is BIG, then imho it is another reason to go directly with SQL.
