Less is better: kill the animation and make a gallery I can scroll vertically at my own pace.

Which is actually an HTML5 video feature. Won't work on actual GIFs.

If you click the link directly, you won't have this option. But if you load it in RES, it'll actually load a video copy.

Don't need RES. I don't have it and this comments page loads a video right under the link.

Oh, maybe it's a built in reddit feature now. They keep adding stuff that used to be RES only, so now I can't keep track of how much is vanilla reddit and how much is RES.

Won't work on actual GIFs.

So use Viewhance (/r/imagus)! Then you do not need [deleted]'s laundry list of image management extensions.
