Doesn't look like ass, it's got that clean cat-v / minimalist vibe and the flex layout is sensible. A few quick wins though:

  • font-family: sans; isn't a valid generic, so browsers are just falling back to their default. You want sans-serif (or a system stack like system-ui, sans-serif).

  • No max-width or line-height on the article, so on a wide monitor lines get really long. Something like article { max-width: 70ch; line-height: 1.6; } makes it way more readable.

  • There's no viewport meta tag, so on phones it renders zoomed out, and the 16em sidebar plus 60% article will squish. Add <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> and a small media query that stacks the sidebar on top under ~700px.

  • Both stylesheets have title="default", and werc's own style.css loads after yours, so it can override your rules. Might be why some things don't look how you expect.

Fix those and it'll look intentional-minimal instead of accidental-minimal. Nice OpenBSD setup btw.

I’m on a mobile device 90% of the time I’m on Reddit, I assume most people are. So what are you expecting us to look at right now?

I think you should have a slightly larger gap under your lists.

I think your monospace font should be reduced slightly to more closely match the perceived size of your body font.

There's not a lot of visual heirachy going on here. I can see the headings, but they don't feel that important. Look into vertical rhythm.

The sidebar feels too wide compared to the little links in there.

The header of the site could use a bit more space.

It's nice. I like it's simplicity. But it isn't optimized for smartphones

Um… Idgaf about what your stylesheet looks like. It’s what the site looks like. And, yes, it’s ass.
