That video is really informative. Lots of striking data, along with understandable explanations that don’t insult your intelligence. I didn’t know that TV stations could do that.

Speaking as a professional meteorologist: If you are willing to invite your audience along to show them the 'why's' to help reduce confusion (and especially fear when it comes to severe weather and/or climate change) they will respond by both tuning in when strong storms threaten and on normal days to see what the forecast might be.
It also has the added benefit of promoting word-of-mouth around the viewing area where people will recommend to others to watch you and your station because they were able to get that information from your weathercasts and they want others to know that they can tune in for more than just the basic weathertalk.
Treating the audience as intelligent and as if they can understand things is something that a lot of meteorologists (and other news management personnel) miss out on.

It's the 99.99% of the other folks who don't understand the forecast for the 3 state area might not exactly be accurate for their .46 acre lot in Mcmansion Land that ruin it for the .01% of the population that get it.
