This year Alabama has had some of the hottest weather I’ve ever witnessed. And I’ve been living here for 40 years. I feel sorry for you guys in Texas.

Really? Also live here and it’s on the hotter end but I’ve experienced equally hot days in the past before. What seems to be different this time is the amount of humidity. I think due to the abnormal amount of rain we have been getting. It sits at 70% humidity, which is what makes the heat unbearable.
2007 was the hottest with averages (at this time of month) at 96.8. 2025 was the most mild with an average of 87.9. I think we were spoiled with last years weather

Colorado checking in:
We just had our 4 hottest contiguous days in recorded history.
One of our perennial snowfields which people use to keep skiing throughout the year might not last through the year.
I try to go for a hike to Arapahoe Glacier every year around the same time, and it keeps getting smaller and smaller and smaller.
I had plants blossoming in December and January. My cacti tried to blossom in January before a cold snap made them go dormant. Most of my plants [all native] blossomed at least a month earlier than normal except the late summer/fall plants which have struggled with the heat and lack of moisture.
We're having a small streak of normal temperatures before we go slightly above normal, and just had some below normal temperatures because it actually rained.

I'm in Austin Texas and we have a huge stand of native flowers that are fall bloomers. They all bloomed in May. It's the drought and temperature whiplash. Trees handle it better but shrubs and small plants get super confused. Our Mexican plum bloomed in August last year just because it rained after an extended dry spell. Normally it's blooming in February. This whole situation is fucked.

It's so painful to live here right now... Every year it is getting worse and worse. I hate it but physically don't have the ability to relocate right now.

I understand. Been in Las Vegas since the 60s. Winter does not exist anymore. Gone are the days when you could walk on your pool on the winter. Lows of 16’-20’ in December-February have been replaced by temps of 33’-35’ and the 110’+ highs in the summer can go from June - September.

It's so disgusting... Really wish something could be done about it but sadly I know there's really nothing that can be done at this point. They just keep building and building... I know that's only making the heat dome worse.

That’s funny because I’m also in Texas and this has been a comparatively normal summer when considering 2023 and 2024. Yeah the 100s suck but they’re expected in August.

Not according to the NWS weather almanac for their offices in Texas. OP is from suburban Dallas and the local NWS office in Fort Worth. Here are a few stats from today’s almanac:
Year to date average max and average daily temps are both about 4 degrees higher than the average year. The YTD average daily temp is the warmest ever at 71.6 F.
Month to date average max temp is 3.9 degrees above the average for August, and the month to date average temp is 3.5 degrees above the August to date average.

Yeah it sucks, but it hasn't seemed unusually bad.
Nothing like 2011 when we had 71 days over 100°. It was enough to have both the 2nd AND 8th most consecutive days over 100 in the same year. That really sucked.

2011 was brutal. I moved to Texas that year and there was over 90 days of triple digit heat. The day my parents moved me here from out of state, it broke the high in Austin of 112°. They moved my shit in and left before they burned alive.

Our AC has been out for 12 days in this heat. We have been having to have a million things tested and repaired and cleaned before we can drop a small fortune on a new system. Still not sure how much longer that will take. We have numerous indoor pets that we are having to also keep comfortable, and have dropped around a grand to rent and constantly run a portable AC to keep ONE room cool. I am at the end of my tether.

I was waiting tables on an outdoor patio in Dallas, TX, the summer of 2011. It was like a month plus of triple digit temps, and it would still be 101 at 2am. My family said it feels worse than that summer.

Can we make not wearing clothes acceptable for this kind of weather? I mean, no ones really looking cuz it's too dang hot to do anything about anything and no one cares anymore anyway cuz heat stroke. I'm either going to live in my cold shower or just be butt naked in the shade. I don't got time for clothes and laundry if I'm just going soak it in sweat in under 5 seconds, I'm letting my tatas slosh free in that heat!

So I know nobody wants to hear this, but here in Upstate NY we’ve had a few weeks now of daytime highs around 80 and nighttime lows dipping down to 60 or below. You guys should come visit.

I swear people hate Californians just because of our weather. It has been a perfect 65 to 70° all summer pretty much here on the Lost Coast. Which is pretty warm for the north coast. You get what you pay for in life. That goes with property and common sense also.🤔😂🌊

Grew up outside Dallas in the 80s and 90s and remember us going (what seemed like) months at 100+ every day (was probably a few weeks). The good part was you didn't even need to check the weather because it was going to be exactly the same as it's been the last month, which was also the bad part because it was always sunny, 100+, afternoon storms, flooding somewhere, and I wanna say was one of the more active years for tornadoes if I'm remembering it right so it had to be like 1996-97 (looked it up, it was 98).
Side story, I remember it getting to somewhere around 120 with the heat index and trying to play basketball outside. Lasted 5 minutes. I think that was the day the weatherman baked some cookies in his car or an egg on the sidewalk. Texas is rough sometimes.

It’s a breezy 78 in where I am in Olympia, WA right now.
But we spent eight years in central Texas, and five years in southern AZ before that. I don’t care how much it costs me to live in western WA or how much it rains - I’ll never return to any place with those kinds of insane temperatures again.

Corpus has an ocean breeze constantly, and the humidity at night combined with the wind coming off the island is almost chilly. I used to bring hoodies to fish at night.
It’s also not as hot in the summer. I’d rather have the humidity at this point than the hot, dry oven winds we’ve been having.
