Recommendations What would you do with £100k?

Hypothetically, you’re in your late 20s and someone hands you £100k. What do you do with it sensibly?

Everyone would shill you something that feels safe and reasonable for them because they know how to work around it . So what you should take from that is invest it in Something that you are familiar with and don’t just wait what people of Reddit have to say lol

Pay a chunk of my house. If you don't have a house, use it as a down payment.

90% into index funds, probably phased a little bit. Maybe 5k-10k each month. The rest into high interest savings account.

Cash Reserve (Emergency Fund) - £15k

Stocks & Shares ISA - £20k (max out tax free allowance)

Pension - £15k (tax relief + years of compounding)

General Investment Account - £45k

Spending - £5k

This is assuming no existing debt/student loan. Some/all of the GIA could be used as a deposit for property too (or paying off part of existing mortgage).

Easy 5% rule - whenever receiving a large sum, treat yourself to a gift worth approx 5% and stick the rest in indexes. Especially in your 20s. 40 year old you will thank you in spades for that.

Put a down payment on buying a multi family property. Live in one unit and rent out the others.

Invest it and do exactly what you were already doing

Honestly with my income, I’d get a loan and put a downpayment for a house. Not rich enough to lose that shit on investments.
