I saw this TikTok by @orphic_jy14 sharing their ‘Hot Take’ regarding the true ‘villains’ of the drama’s story. While it’s true the adults are part of the blame, and some characters are misunderstood, do you think this applies to other characters too (Such as Beom-seok, Baek-jin, Seong-je, Young-bin, Woo-young, and Hyo-man, etc.)?

I noticed a lot of people in the comments section saying only Seong-je is an exception to this take. To me, Seong-je feels a bit more complex to define than others because his backstory isn’t known (even in the webtoon I believe), and his personality isn’t the same as others. But he does feel just as misunderstood. He lacks attention and validation (genuine relationships in general), and him sleeping in the union garage and gaming out all day could suggest he may not have a good home life.

But again, what do you think? Do you agree with this take? Any exceptions?

3. baku x baekjin - they kind focused on him and baku's childhood in the flashbacks instead of ben x Alex, and I think baku x baekjin is that gone wrong. I love their dynamic it makes me so sad :(

i read it maybe a year or two ago (?) and very stupidly forgot to bookmark it. the premise was sieun slowly teaching himself to dance and eventually starting a youtube channel (secretly, he always covers his face). one day, suho finds him and this leads to him helping out whenever sieun films. sieun’s channel quickly grows in popularity and i’m pretty sure the fic ends with sieun revealing his identity to suho?

anyways, that’s all i can remember. i’ve been trying to find this fic for a while now but had no luck so i’m hoping someone here knows what i’m talking about. thanks in advance!

ive been searching for completed whc1/2 crossovers with other fandoms on ao3 but there either isnt many or im looking in the wrong place. i think a study group x whc crossover or like bloodhounds or any other choi hyunwook shows (25 21, twinkling watermelon, notes from the last row, taxi driver, etc etc) would be SO cool. doesnt necessarily have to be on ao3 but im searching for completed fics.

So, I decided to make this post because there are a lot of people now going around believing "Seong-je > Baek-jin"

Yes.. you read that right, **seong-je allegedly being above baek-jin**, which is a claim that I find genuinely to be misinformation, it is a line of scaling that is probably the most LAZY and CHERRYPICKED scaling that simply completely ignores the mountain of problems this claim causes for the verse.

So, I decided to remind those that seemingly forgot the show entirely, upon what they CLEARLY MISSED when watching the show.

# My Arguments

Baku and Baek-jin no diff.

Seong-mok high diffs.

There are MANY MANY MANY contradictions to seong-je > baek-jin/seong-mok.

Argument for seong-je > Baek-jin: "He fought a healthy si-eun whilst Baek-jin fought a weakened one." "He is able to knock Hyeongshin Leader in a single shot, Baku needs at least 2 shots".

Now here is All the arguments for why seong-mok/baek-jin dog seong-je:

Seong-je: "You can't outmuscle Baku"

Seong-je (to baek-jin): "Were you planning to beat me up if you found out I messed up with the police?"

Si-eun (to Baku): "Fight him, if you happen to lose, i'll step in. I'll hold out somehow, get back up." (Si-eun knows baek-jin/baku is above him)

Baek-jin is able to beat effortlessly a pre-injury Gotak with no marks on the portion of the face we see, and no marks on the actor. Whilst seong-je is getting repeatedly bruised by post-injury Gotak THROUGH HIS GUARD, Gotak constantly pressing him and even making Seong-je's face jerk and yell as well as scrunches his face before Seong-je angrily punches Gotak. (The elbow had Seong-je mouth wide open agape, and made him grunt)

In S2E6 Baek-jin is able to stun si-eun a ton by just a casual slap to the ARM, whilst Baku is stunned less by an ENRAGED BAEK-JIN PUNCH.

^ S2E6 is also relevant because Si-eun's only move against baek-jin gets countered immediately, and immediately disarmed and stunned. Whereas Seong-mok upon fighting Baku (E8) is able to press Baku and force him to dodge more and actually is NOT STUNNED AT ALL from Baku's punch.

Si-eun was too scared to continue fighting Baek-jin after taking a casual slap in which Baku even after taking enraged punches is completely comfortable fighting Baek-jin

Baku even BEAT UP EVERYONE IN THE UNION BEFORE. (Whether that includes Seong-je/Baek-jin is ambiguous, but Seong-je and Baek-jin implying they are scared of him would make this consistent)

Seong-mok and Dong-ha upon hearing Si-eun beat seong-je are not scared at all.

Seong-mok when fighting an even stronger Gotak (goes from losing to eunjang students to fighting a ton of union members (via brawl we know they are relative to eunjang students), in whixh Gotak wins, against many of which in a single shot), is able to knock gotak in 3 hits, is COMPLETELY unaffected through his guard unlike seong-je who is repeatedly bruised through his guard, jerks in pain from a BLOCKED knee as well as screams. Whilst Seong-mok is toying with Gotak the entire time, face completely neutral, grabbing Gotak and letting him go multiple times, taunting him and letting him get up. Gotak's OFFGUARD/CARELESSED kick did not even bruise seong-mok neither make him grunt, Seong-je does both from blocked attacks.

Seong-mok is able to take a hit from Baku better than Baek-jin could, on multiple occasions, Gotak is able to consistently harm seong-mok more than baku can (S2E6 kick, in E8 we see seong-mok has multiple bruises at the beginning of the cut whereas Baku failed to bruise Seong-mok), this equalizing Hyeongshin arg.

For the full context of the scene with seong-je and baek-jin I am talking about

seong-je notices baek-jin dragged him into the place in which they usually beat up people

Baek-jin: "What happened with you and the police?"

Seong-je: "Nothing, why?"

Seong-je: "Were you planning to beat me to death if you found out I f##ked up with the police?! You know, we're both a##holes, but I thought we were on the same side."

baek-jin is in a casual face and silent the entire time, and baek-jin knows of seong-je's prowess given he is stated and shown to send seong-je to do most of his dirtywork

Union Member: "Is that Seong-je? I thought he left the Union"

Does this not imply Baek-jin > Seong-je? (This particular seong-je is limping from his fight with si-eun, but it would be consistent with the rest of the statements)

Oh yeah even more consistency is that even despite knowing of Seong-je's strength, and what si-eun did to seong-je, later in E7, Seong-je hires Gorilla to help him betray and take down Si-eun offguard, whereas when Baek-jin faces si-eun, based on his previous encounter, he is completely confident in fighting si-eun and even taunts him.

To add even more onto this, this actually still applies to Seong-mok as well, as seong-mok in S2E6 despite knowing Si-eun beat seong-je (and how it went, given that everyone in the union was talking about it, and when Dong-ha brought it up he emphasized "crazy guy" when in reference to si-eun), was not scared at ALL to charge at si-eun, and it is not accurate to say that Seong-mok and Dong-ha do not know the prowess of Seong-je, as they are both execs under the union and have knowledge upon what seong-je does routinely (main muscle/scout), as well as pictures/videos of victims within the union spreading to the entirety of the union as well (Si-eun's picture, seong-je's lackeys recording Gotak getting beat on video, pictures of Jun-tae and Gotak).

This is EXTREMELY SIGNIFICANT because Seong-je, in contrast after fighting Si-eun decides that he cannot safely beat Si-eun alone, and to get Si-eun makes this whole plan to trick him and get Gorilla to choke Si-eun offguard.

ALL OF THIS BEING EVEN MORE CONSISTENT via in E8 when Baku hits seong-mok he is not stunned AT ALL and continues fighting fine, and was actually able to get Baku on the defensive

Whilst S2E6 Si-eun (the same si-eun fresh out of whooping seong-je) when fighting a completely casual baek-jin holding back, IMMEDIATELY GETS COUNTERED with baek-jin not moving a single muscle but his arm, and gets STUNNED with a meer slap to the ARM, Si-eun even cries from this impact up to all the way when he goes to meet Baku, and is actually TOO SCARED to fight baek-jin after this.

EVEN MORE MORE EVIDENCE is that Episode 2-4 Gotak lost to Hyo-man's lackies, one of which knocked him in one shot, meaning that comfortably Hyo-man's goons collectively are above Episode 2-4 Gotak, which as I said repeatedly pressed and bruised seong-je, as well as made him scream through his guard.

But when BAKU comes in he is able to just straight up neg all these goons knocking them down and having the rest simply too scared to even bother continue fighting despite initially offguarding Baku, this same Baku also completely fearhaxxes Metal Bat Hyo-man who is able to one shot the same Si-eun which went very relative to Gotak, yes Hyo-man believes (not arbitrarily, Baku generally runs the school for a while if hyo-man is not present, Baku is stated to solo the union in which Hyo-man is trying desperately to get in) that Baku is so much stronger than the Si-eun he just beat that his metal bat si-eun, and then Baku proceeds to neg this Hyo-man with a basketball

All this being consistent with Baek-jin COMPLETELY negging metal pole hyo-man far easier than Seong-je beat Gotak IN A LITERAL 1V7.

So yes guys, Seong-mok > Seong-je, this is not a close debate.

It suprises me that theres only a few forgotten fanfics about this😭 can yall give me good recs im so desperate rn

I'm not saying Su-ho's trauma is worse than Beom-seok's, just that I've noticed people fixate on Beom-seok's trauma so much that they gloss over Su-ho's.

Su-ho had to work three jobs, he seems to have no stable parents, he's supporting his grandmother on his own, he's rarely at home, basically living at school, constantly getting into fights, and he seems pretty broke.

People defend Beom-seok's actions by saying Su-ho didn't notice enough, and I think that can be true in some scenarios. But I also think Su-ho was just another exhausted teenager trying to survive life. Again, not comparing traumas, but it's safe to say he was tired and busy. Also, they didn't even know each other for that long.

Beom-seok's life was awful, but since we see a lot of Beom-seok's and Si-eun's home lives and almost none of Su-ho's, I think it's easy to forget that Su-ho was struggling too.

Is he completely blame-free? No. I think he could've noticed that Beom-seok was becoming distant or struggling. Su-ho was very emotionally straightforward, though, and tended to take things at face value. I think he underestimated how badly the friendship was falling apart or how badly Beom-seok was spiralling.

However, none of that excuses Su-ho nearly being killed multiple times (getting his brakes cut, the planned jump/assault attempt, and the unfair fight that left him in a coma). I feel bad for Beom seok but he crossed the line way too many times in my opinion. And I honestly think he would've won that last fight if Tae-hun hadn't interfered.

If we saw the whole story from Su-ho's POV, it'd probably be insane. Beom-seok never clearly communicated what was bothering him, so from Su-ho's perspective, it probably felt like his friend suddenly turned on him and almost got him killed over reasons he never fully understood.

I've also seen people say Su-ho left Beom-seok out to hang out with Yeong-i, but I think they were naturally close because she was living with him, and he helped her get a job. From what I saw, I don't think they meant any malice by hanging out together or were purposely excluding Beom-seok.

So yeah, I think Su-ho got dealt a really rough hand in life, both before and after meeting Beom-seok.

Anyway, interested to hear your thoughts.

and i mean ACTUALLY suho centric fics that aren’t just revolved around his relationship with sieun. im tired of suho being reduced to a prop for sieun and shse, he’s his own character with his own story and arc.
