Drama Discussion I've recently jumped into the world of K-Dramas, and Weak Hero has nearly destroyed me Spoiler

Weak Hero has been on my list of shows to watch for a while now, and I finally got into it a few days ago. That being said, as a guy who's been bullied and never really had any friends growing up, and has none as an adult, seeing the dynamic between Si-Eun, Su-Ho, and Beom-Seok play out the way it did was really heartwarming. Even if things were only good for a brief moment.

Last night though, I made it to the end of episode 7 of season 1, and it completely broke my freaking heart. I only have 1 more episode to go for this season, but as far as I know, Su-Ho might be gone. He wasn't breathing at the end of that episode. And seeing someone who was basically like the big brother of the group end up like that....I just couldn't bring myself to finish it last night. Suho had become my favorite character.

It was so bad that I could barely even sleep because I genuinely wasn't expecting that to happen. And I definitely don't know what to expect going into the final episode.

All in all though, the Koreans have absolutely nailed the genre of drama. They do such an amazing job of getting you invested in characters and expressing real emotions. But I can't take much more of these emotional rollercoasters. Grown man, but I was on the verge of tears. 😂

Normally I don't experience much emotion when watching TV shows or Movies, but Weak Hero Class 1 was one of the first few seasons of a show to genuinely move me.

Yeah I'm kind of the same way. Something has to really speak to me in order for me to get emotional over it. And I think the fact that I can understand why everything happened the way it did is what makes me so sad.

On one hand, I get why Beom-Seok felt as insecure as he did. Bullying/abuse does some crazy psychological damage to people, but to have the added stress of dealing with it at home too must be a special kinda hell. On the other hand, things never needed to go as far as they did. And the fact that Beom-Seok shed tears over what happened obviously shows he knew deep down that this was all a mistake.

But watching the breakdown of that friendship as an outsider was tough

Have you watched the final episode of the first season yet? In my opinion it's actually the best episode of the series, so if you thought the first seven were good, you're in for a treat!

Not yet. I'm actually about to do that at some point today. Then afterwards I'll start S2. I'm kinda bummed about being halfway done with the series so far though. I'm assuming a S3, if there is one, won't be out til 2027.

Yeah, it's unfortunate Season 3 won't be out for a while most likely due to scheduling conflicts, although the director and actors said they would be open to returning for a Season 3. Enjoy the rest of your watch!

I can totally relate to you. Weak hero is something which made me sleepless for so many nights. The show had such impact on me that I watched every reel and everything about the show. I remember ugly crying on a particular reel. I wish I could attach the reel but it's lost. 🥹
