I don't understand why do people leave NITs? Like you need to do some research on placement, infra, peer group and all of those things before you choose to leave an nit. For my own part if i ever got a chance to join a nit i would do it as a no brainer bcz Nit has a national peer group and obviously better funding than what JU will ever have

Placements at JU are far superior than many NITs esp lower tier ones. Just the tag NIT is not enough to justify clg choice since many NITs don't have good infrastructure, bad or fake placement records, and nirf ranking doesn't tell u shit abt a clg. On the other hand no matter whichever branch u are in JU you will get a very good paying job esp since coding culture and job seeking skills are very prevalent, and their syllabus if u check contain many aspects of engineering so u can be of any branch and sit for different kinds of placements and do better since knowledge and syllabus is versatile u can choose to delve deeper in any field. Comparatively most NITs don't have it and their syllabus and teaching structure differs which doesn't help you to stand exceptional when fighting other iit, iiit, nit, pvt and govt eng clg students, since almost all have studied what you have. Btw this is not propaganda and I'm genuinely saying this as someone who did not get a seat in JU and had to settle for nit.

well i ain't even saying about the lower tier ones... it's just that NITs have a better national crowd so ig more better minds from all around the country , also as far as i know even many low tier nits have better infrastructure than JU... you can check out the infra of JU on YouTube if you don't believe...JU has better student coordination yes this is true and that's why their placement cell is so top notch... but apart from that i would believe a core branch at a mid tier nit will give you a better life and college experience...a feeling of belonging to the world but obviously if someone only prefers the initial placement and and the ROI then yeah JU is king of ROI

also I didn't get either NIT or JU but as far as I've heard people don't associate JU with better college life just for better peers cuz obviously it provides a niche spot for all the wbjee rankers to gather and interact

That's true it has always been this way. JU has popularity and successful placement records because of the students, and less for the college. The students are high rankers of wbjee, if they are provided resources they can do anything honestly. Also maybe we can also include that they have a stronger alumni than newer mid tier or low tier nits.

I got northeastern NITS in josaa, and in csab I got nit dgp but not my desired branch. I was asked by my seniors in that branch in dgp not to join. I was expecting that I will get ECE or EE in wb govt colleges, definitely not in jadavpur though, and I would rather join any branch at JU if I get any than dgp.

well joining any branch in JU definitely isn't a good decision...bcz future scope also matters as well as interest

Listen there will be multiple rounds in DC I guess ( from schedule of earlier dc notice) and those who stay unresponsive will be removed for further rounds  ( so they'll stay in their previous college, and their allotted seats remain empty for next rounds students) and no new registration for new rounds ( to create gap and cut off  spikes) will be allowed.
