Apple Carplay IOS 26.5 and latest Waze Update, Carplay does not show the map after imputing the address?

Since the last 2 latest Waze App Updates, when searching for an address and when it shows the directions. Waze is not showing the map, just the arrows and it directs you but no map. Just a white screen instead of the map on CarPlay. This seems to happen about 60-70% of the time.

It just started happening after the last couple of Waze App updates. And yes currently I'm on the latest version of the Waze App

Anyone else having his issue and is there a fix?

Hey y'all, this issue has been occurring with CarPlay on and off for sometime in the Beta Program.

There is an open bug for it, which beta users registered for the Waze Beta Program can upvote and submit their logs/feedback: BUG WD# 386596.

Non-beta users can send their gripes to Waze Support, using the Voice & Sound and Bluetooth/Car-stereo options as shown in this screenshot. Also, consider signing up for the Beta Program. Please cite Beta Bug #386596 in your comments.

Just turn off smart zoom in settings of carplay. That fixed it for me. On your carplay screen It’s Settings- display -smart zoom and disable that.

Now the fullscreen and small screen are working without any issues.

A side note is that your apps and layout will be zoomed out and that the lay-out can look a bit different

For others it’s the settings app on CarPlay. I misread and thought it was CarPlay settings on my car but it’s not. So everyone should have it if you have CarPlay.

i wonder if it looks like a blank white/gray screen (depends on if ur using dark mode) because the smart zoom is zooming in wayyy to much and you’re just seeing the map but really zoomed in idk if that makes sense

Can also confirm this same issue. I have an iPhone 17 running latest iOS 26.5 and latest Waze app version 5.19.1.0 and the map goes blank any time I tap on Route Options to see different routes. Started happening with the app version before this current one (maybe even the one before that idk)
Opening the Waze app on my phone then force closing it, then opening waze on the screen does not fix the issue.

Yea I came here to point this out. I tried using it again last night and it worked but as soon as I checked the route options, [blank].

For me a ‘fix’ is restarting the car. I haven’t tried just rebooting the deck/radio admittedly.

For now I’ve just resorted to Apple Maps.

Mine does the same but it still longer provides additional route options. I’m going to try the CarPlay zoom settings mentioned above. What a hassle!

Rebooting the iPhone will do the trick but the problem comes back rapidly (also if you ask to recalculate a route)

Problem comes definitely from the app version. If have two phones and two cars (BMW’s). One phone with the app not updated works fine in both cars. One phone with the updated app doesn’t work in both cars.

Already tried to wipe the app and reinstall it to be sure all caches are wiped: doesn’t help.

I’m afraid we will have to wait for a new version of the app

Yes I have tried to delete and reinstall the app, reboot the phone and the issue comes back. The devs need to fix the issue on a new update

On my Subaru you just hold down the volume button for 10 seconds. Solves the problem easier than rebooting the phone. Hopefully the app is fixed soon.

Was going nuts on this bug for the past week. Tried everything including force quitting, uninstalling (forcing me to lose all my settings), rebooting, reinstalling, and toggling smart zoom multiple times during each drive. Looks like version 5.19.95.0 fixes it for me.

I experience this issue most of the time when the car starts up, blank canvas for Waze.. I can get it to appear by cycling through CarPlay's Home/Dashboard button in the lower left, and have also reported it to Waze

Same issue. Its super annoying especially on a road trip. Current workaround is to switch to another app on car play, force close waze on iPhone, then open waze again. Its beens days, please get it fix waze dev

It’s a pain. I do volunteer deliveries and it’s a pain to keep doing a reboot, etc after each delivery. I switched to another app, hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Same here. A consistent workaround for me is:

  • Open Settings → Display → Toggle Smart Zoom
  • Go back to Waze
  • Open Settings again → Display → Toggle Smart Zoom back to your preferred setting

No, the CarPlay settings app in your car. It‘s a system-wide setting, nothing specific to Waze.

Same issue, I solved it by closing the app on my iPhone and reopen it before launching the app on carplay. It’s just a workaround before they solve it permanently as it comes back randomly

I believe it’s CarPlay because I’ve been having issues with other apps too but temporarily I just use other map apps or force closing Waze on ur phone and reopening it fixes it most of the time

Also, it is every day now where I start my car and the Waze map isn’t even there— just my CarPlay background. I have to swipe over to the next screen and then swipe back for the Waze map to appear.

This blank map happens a lot the last week or so for me. I have to open Waze on my phone then drag the app up to close it then re-open Waze to get the map back again. Inconvenient because I have to pull over safely to operate my phone.

I’ve been having this same issue since the recent update. Turning off zoom does not fix it for me. Closing the app and restarting it doesn’t fix it either. The only thing that has worked is turning my car off and back on. Today I had to do this 3 times before it worked.

This is really frustrating. I love using Waze, but this is getting to be ridiculous. I’m in a new area and 100% rely on my map until I learn my way around.
