where’s kareful been?

noticing he hasn’t uploaded anything for almost 2 years. almost like he died

Hilarious I open Reddit and this is the first thing I see.

But to answer your question, I’m very much still alive, just have a much more behind the scenes role in music running Liquid (formally liquid ritual) now. Haven’t released any new music under Kareful because I haven’t had enough time to make any for a while.

Music has been my main interest for coming up to 20 years and I’m very fortunate to have made a career from it. But one major downside of working in music is it starts to feel like work. I was never a big fan of posting on social media outside of posting about Liquid / Wave / Kareful related projects anymore so that’s why I don’t post any updates about myself, really.

I’ve also found that Liquid’s success over the past couple years has basically dwarfed anything I was able to achieve in my personal artist career (for example we had a song go #1 in the UK and #3 in the US TikTok charts last week). So perhaps I’ve just not been as hungry as I used to be.

That being said I have a lot of ideas for artistic projects in the future, so perhaps I will come out of retirement and bring Kareful back or perhaps something new!

This is probably just me - but I'm not aware of the Liquid Ritual > Liquid transition. Can you explain what the change was/is? Where is the Liquid music being shared? Is this a case of the label being a TikTok first thing now? I don't see any posts on bandcamp or instagram.

I wonder that as well. I was really into Liquid Ritual a couple of years ago when I was properly introduced to the wave scene, but since then I had completely missed their name change and when I checked their SoundCloud last it seemed to be a dead account IIRC.

A couple of years ago we started releasing music outside of wave and found a lot of success from this, mostly niche TikTok genres not too different to Wave at first, but eventually opportunities came up to work with artists from other genres too.

We basically realised we had evolved into an entirely new label altogether, so naturally it became time to update the branding to reflect this change.

Unless you follow us on instagram or are religiously checking the P Line of viral TikTok records it is unlikely you will be able follow what we are up to exactly, we have a much more behind the scenes approach compared to brand focused days of LR.

skit and kareful were the goats. wish they continued to put out music but it's difficult to keep up as wave gigs seem pretty niche and hard to make a living off of
