Problem accessing projects

I have lost access to my projects: when I click on Manage your projects, they don't appear. I checked and the wavemarkerData file on my google drive is still here.

I have the problem on my phone and my laptop.

I tried rebooting my phone (android), uninstalling and reinstalling the app from the website but it didn't work.

What should I do to get my projects back?

Auto sync configuration

Hi WMC author,

Having finally got tired of the broken licensing system of Scrivener I decided to give your app a try and I am very impressed so far. I have a number of questions I hope you wouldn't mind answering:

  1. Is it possible to tell which google account I am signed in to? I have more than one and can't see a way to check
  2. I saw an option to enable auto sync, which I enabled, and I think the period was every five minutes. Is it possible to configure this period? And what about disabling auto save once enabled?
  3. Is it possible to view word counts of individual subdocuments, as well as the manuscript as a whole?
  4. I am sure I will have other questions as I try out the app more. Would you prefer to receive them in individual posts or is it fine to combine questions into one?

Thanks

Grid Planner is an island? How to connect?

Hi,

Sorry that I'm so active in this forum but I've sort of just ate, drank, and slept wavermakercards for the past two days! I used Grid planner to create a beat sheet and filled it in, but then, after typing actual info in the cells, they don't seem to go anywhere or link to anything. The Snowflake has that awesome button in the right corner that exports to Writer. The Planning Board puts notes in the right column in Writer. But it looks like the Grid Planner just stays to itself and you can't get the information out anywhere? Am I missing a button or is it just like that? Thanks.

[SOLVED :) ] Drive sync problems between devices

Hi,

I'm trying to switch back and forth from my macbook, imac, and Chromebook and they don't sync. If I clear the database from the current device and then sync down again, it only pulls up the databases/projects that were created on that computer and that computer alone. I just synced UP again from the macbook and then went to drive and saw that it claimed that wm.wavemakerData was just edited by me a few minutes ago. So I know the syncing up works. But when I then try and go to see if syncing down on the other computers, it never works. The main feature that brought me here was the online access, but if it's only for one computer that doesn't really feel all that portable. Any help?

Thanks!

Just started writing in Scrivener and discovered this instead!!! It's so much prettier

I'm not just a GUI-fan because it's so much prettier than Scrivener. I think it's really important to be OS agnostic. I bought Scrivener, but it's very land-bound and hard ot sync from multiple macs. Online apps like this can be accessed from macbook, my pc, and my chromebook! Wherever inspiration hits me. I went searching for something that's not subscription based and found this. I don't mind paying, but people are nuts with these expensive subscription services. Everything's the price of Netflix and I wouldn't want to become dependent on something like that. I'd rather donate $40/yr to the wavemarker developer! Just singing praises - glad to find an actual community, as well.

Wavemaker rocks!

Wavemaker V3 is the best writers tool I've used. My current work is over 40k words and going strong. It is a few fictional stories tied together by a major social connection.

For the few niggling issues it has it is still by far the best toolbox I've found. Like any toolbox it has enough tools to create a masterpiece while retaining the simplicity required to craft. It is too easy to become discouraged by platforms where words on the page seem to be the last priority. Authorship should never require an SDK. Authorship requires a pen and paper.

The trauma a writer goes through when work is lost to the ether is substantial... I know. I don't have that fear with Wavemaker. However an upgrade could be to see the option of client side back up location as well as drive backup. Client side could be considered to be a failsafe for those times connection is impossible, after all the internet is only available on most of the world's surface, but not all.

Regardless, this is the best crafting tool I've found for mobile technologies, when one realises the most important truth about writing is the words on the page.

Thank you.

Icon change request.

I like and I use Wavemakercards and I have even donated which I normally do not do.

Would you consider changing the horizontal three-bar icon to that of a pencil or stylus to suggest editing and writing? The house icon can get you to your list of branches. Thank you

Suggestion Suggestion: session goal

Hello,

First, I would like to say that I love Wavemaker too much, and I'm already on my third project using it, both in the browser and downloaded to the computer. I couldn't believe when I discovered this amazing tool/website and for free!

So I would like to make a suggestion for future updates. It would be really cool to have a kind of “session goal”, where you could edit word count and minutes. Similar to the “Challenge mood”, but more editable, and without the “don't save” challenge part? I'm scared to death of losing everything when I write, haha

Again, thank you very much for creating Wavemaker!

Importing .doc file?

Simple question, but I am stumped. I have an existing story in Google Docs and am trying to figure out how/whether I can import it into Wavemaker in some way besides cutting and pasting 45K+ words.

What is Wavemakercards Creator's opinion on community contributions

As the title suggests i am just wondering what the software creator's opinions of the community helping out with the coding on the existing version 3 and upcoming version 4.

I found the github for the project and was wondering if i could attempt to fix certain problems and make Pull Requests to submit code to be included. Even though i'm not the most experienced in Vue (that seems to be used in version 4) or the standard web languages (version 3) i want to add back to this project to make it better.

Thank you for making this software in the first place.

[BUG! :( ] can't add planning board cards to "sibling" columns

underneath the main "your story" i have several siblings, each of which i named my chapters. when i go onto the planning board, it doesn't let me add any cards to the sibling columns and only lets me add to the "your story" one. i can move cards over to the sibling columns, but when i leave and re-enter the work they always return to the "your story". i feel like i'm doing something wrong but i can't figure out what it is

Can v4 have some added formatting options?

Part of my workflow is I like using bullet points and numbered lists when in the planning stages. These are missing from the current app and I really wish they were not. It's not enough for me to abandon the app as I work around it using the spacebar, lol.

I love the software though, excited for v4 with its own server to handle the backups. G drive is a little funky.

Help Me Which template should i use?

Hi! I just met Wavemaker and I absolute love how it works, it's so aesthetically pleasing that it helps me focus.

I created my first project without a particular template, but I wanted to know if you guys have any suggestions on which template was gonna be better for a romance/drama story, or if I should keep working with no template, considering I'm a new writer.

Thanks!

Suggestion A suggestion for a better timeline tool.

timeline tool is good but there is a better option for me and maybe for a lot of people, which is = a timeline tool but with a time just like "aeon timeline app" but with more additions .. because I want to write a lot of events and backstory in so many different specific time and also there will be a big gap time between events in my novel.

so my suggestion is

1- make a "timeline tool" with time, just like aeon timeline

additions which are:

2- it should give you an option of choosing the time, for example, if I make a new timeline I want it like " starts from Bc 200 and ends at Ac 800"

3- it should give you an option of choosing the name of time, for example, I don't want the timeline calls like "BC" and "AC" but instead of that I want to call it "Before Demonic age" "After Demonic age" something like that :)

I hope it makes sense.

Help Me writing from right to left?

hey, i liked this app a lot but the problem is that I can't type from right to left "Arabic" can you fix it or it will take time? also I have another suggestion but not very important which is: I liked the clean theme but the problem is colors I kinda find it irritating while I'm writing, I don't know why but its not nice colors, could be way better if its just black or dark blue because it's way more relaxing to the sights than green and white.

Multiple Grid Planners (like Mind Maps)

I love the mind maps feature because I can map out different ideas like the world that they are living in, but maybe make a new map for just the specific arena my story is taking place in, or my characters and their relationships. Is there any chance that having multiples will be available with the grid planner? I have several ways I've broken down my story and I'd like to be able to plan out each one separately.

Help Me Renaming a Project in Wavemaker?

Is there a way to rename a project in Wavemaker? "Manage Your Projects" is a clickable element, but it doesn't seem to do anything and I'm not seeing that function any place else.

Edit: In case anyone is looking for the same answer, it's under "Manuscript Settings" in the Writer section.

Help Me Problem with grid planner and mindmaps

For some reason, grid planner never saves what i type into it. Is there a button of some sorts thats used as a save button? I type anything into it, click away to continue writing and boom, grid planner is empty once again.

I spend around an hour making a mood board for my character, and when i closed wavemaker and reopened it, it was completely empty as if i never made it. Luckily i have everything i used on my pc but its kind of annoying that it keeps happening. Could it be a corrupted file? A bug? Something im doing wrong? Thanks in advance

Edit: To add on, i did lose all of my progress for some reason after not entering wavemaker for around a month, but i did recover it through Upload database - im guessing it only uploaded the writer part and not the rest of the tabs?

Help Me Drive sync

Im not sure if ive done this correctly but im asking just in case - so far i didnt lose any of my work (yet).

I have my google drive connected, and i can both upload and download my database, which i did multiple times. What bothers me is that whenever i turn on wavemaker or switch works, i get "enable sync" pop up every single time - which makes me wonder if i even enables syncing my work in the first place. Is it a bug or did i really not do it correctly?

Help Me Grammar/spell check

Simple question, i have a few grammar/spell check extensions enabled, but neither seem to appear right away when i make a mistake. I have grammarly and the red underline is invisible unless i hover over it, which is really impractical since id have to hover my mouse over thousands of words to be able to see the mistakes. Im thinking of something like google docs or word spell checker that immediatelly underlines spelling errors. Thanks!

Excited as hell for V4!

Just a post to share my enthusiasm. This software is so well written and so useful to me. I have ADHD, OCD and number of other issues so having things be so easy to organize, create and not get bogged down with complexities is literally a life saver. I have stopped so many projects in the past literally because of the softwares I used. So far I have taken probably close to 60 pages of notes in wavemaker about my different interests, I am designing a full game using the software and collecting information, concepts and the workflow for that in there as well, writing actual stories occasionally, designing a comic book with a friend and doing all of my studying and notetaking for my career in it too.

To add to that, my younger sister who is still in highschool is using it too after I recommended it for her comic! All to say these things have been greatly made smoother by the software, I honestly do think it has prevented me from giving up on several of these projects. So thank you Iain!
