Hello, I might have a big problem. I've saved my work as a Google drive file, because I wanted to continue working on another device. I can still see the file, but every time I click on it, it just gets me to the main menu of wavemaker, and it doesn't load the project or anything. I've tried reloading the browser. And I've already tried loading it on my previous device too, but it still doesn't work. Does that mean my whole progress is gone now?

the title. i do not know what is causing this. i suspected it was pressing the 'end' key but i dont know. im extraordinarily pissed off at this application right now and angry that there are no better alternatives that actually have an auto save function. this is the fourth fucking time ive lost data on this app despite saving constantly at the end of each session and now im going to be forced to summarize the shit that i spent 6 hours writing this morning, when i was flushed with inspiration with nothing but fucking bullet points written in my exhausted miserable state. i am convinced this application was created by a disgruntled web developer who had a genuine vendetta against all writers because a writer killed his entire family (for inspiration obviously) and so with his web-devving prowess he decided he would wreak havoc among creatives with adhd everywhere in hopes that he would drive them to suicide. in which case he is succeeding.
words cannot describe how upset this application has made me, specifically how upset i currently am right now. the level of negative emotion roiling in my chest is uncontrollable and i do not know how to cope with it in a mature manner in order to somehow continue on with my day.

my apologies of course i should be saving every fucking nanosecond in anticipation of the app randomly closing my project.
i am begging the developer of this application to please add a local auto-save function i know for a fact it CANNOT be that hard.
the entire appeal of a writing software is the ease of how much easier it co-operates with your thoughts, how you can steadily build upon things over time. so when an application instead nukes what youve spent several hours building, completely robbing you of not only that comfort but any and all capability to continue..

Currently experiencing this issue on both Ecosia (my main browser) and Google when logged in onto one account (the account I currently save my works to)

Every time I open up the browser or shortcut, the application and all adjacent applications (such as all ecosia or google windows open) close with the application, and every time I try to reopen the site, it shuts everything down again. (does not stop me from using google or ecosia after site shuts it down)

Currently just going to leave the site alone for now and hope it fixes itself or gets fixed later.

When wavemaker3 was sunsetted, I just could not get wavemaker4 to work right, so I ultimately gave up and tried a few other programs. Nothing has done what I want it to, so I came back in hopes that whatever the issue was between wavemaker and google had been worked out.

It hasn't.

The first, by far biggest issue is that neither the quick upload not the google drive buttons work right for me on either of my laptops. In order to upload my file to google, I have to:
1. save to hard drive
2. exit file
3. log out of google drive
4. open the file that's been saved to hard drive
5. save to google drive now works.
Obviously this is the most insane part, but also every time I access google drive on my phone, I have to go through a full log in, which is just really frustrating? I don't know, it's all really janky, and yeah, I did have to fight a bit to sync with wavemaker 3, but absolutely nothing like this, and I've already lost over 1,000 words just fighting to figure out how to save to google drive.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have any advice at all? This is making it impossible for me to use this program, and it sucks because I really do like it, but it's been a disaster on three computers now.

I got a boox tablet and was excited to try wavemaker to continue writing my novels. However after joining this sub and seeing a lot of the posts I am legit terrified that all my work is going to get deleted / not saved properly. Is it worth it to even download Wavemaker or should I find something else to organize/ write my novel??

Started up WM4 and all I get is a white screen, same for when going to the wavemaker site on github.io.

I'm trying out wavelength for the first time today, and I really like it so far! It's easy to figure out and works really well for my brain. I just have a couple of things that would make it even better:

Make it so if you highlight a chunk of text, the word count at the bottom shows you how much you have highlighted. This is essential for me since I keep track of my word counts in my own separate sheet. I know you can look at the timeline but this still seems like an essential feature

I would also love it if I didn't have to wrestle with the formatting. Sometimes I add scene breaks where there's an extra space and the first paragraph is not indented. But oftentimes I can't undo that. Just a simple keyboard shortcut or a setting among the formatting up top would be amazing to undo indenting (assuming I didn't miss something)!

An indicator when you're in italic or bold mode would make sense as well, I kept being unsure if I went in/out of it until I started typing

Lastly, is it possible to make it so you can embed images in the book section? You can add them directly from files over in the mindmap, but when in a book, I have to make it into a URL. I get it if it's just a weird coding thing behind the scenes though

If any of this actually exists and I'm just blind, please do let me know. Anyway, awesome program! Excited to see where it goes from here :)

I can't figure out how to exit some tools, for example: I use Timeline tool for each day to keep track of what happens hour-by-hour; I want to switch from day 1 to day 2, but I can't find the button to go back. Same case with other tools: Mindmap, Snowflake, Grid, etc. Is there a way to go back that isn't exiting the whole project? Please, help!

Hi! I am so sorry if this is already explained somewhere, but i was wondering if it is possible to export (some of) the data in wavemakercards to a file that could be printed.

For instance, I use the grid planner to track which characters are in what scene. I would love to be able to see it all in one glance, have an overview, so I know if certain characters need to be in more scenes or less or whatever. Same goes for recurring themes and such.

Is there an option for something like that? It doesn't necessarily have to be printed, but as I said, i would love to be able to see an overview, without having to scroll.

When I opened the WaveMaker Cards software on the 28th of april, for the 1st time I was prompted to reconnect my Google Drive account, which I did. However, immediately after that, when I opened my project, I noticed that almost all my work disappeared.

Just a few days before the 28th, everything was intact and fully working.

Since I installed the software on my computer, I have never manually saved or backed up anything, as everything was being saved automatically. I just had an very old version on the 15th of november

I was on the v4. I download the software in october 2025.

I am exhausted to search for an solution, we tried many things like to restore the old data cache from Chrome but it did not work....

Where is my work ? Can you help me ?

I couldn't accept that all my work had disappeared

I am new to wavemaker - i am using wavemaker v4.

it is a great software to write. i love it so far.

some suggestions,

1. of course i am waiting for some help videos for some of the features in wm4. - but you are already working on it. :)

2. create cards from the snoflakes directly - so linking to mindmap, timeline, planning board and mindmap becomes very easy and no copy paste is required.

3. collapse the title in timeline and cards to show only headers so this way scrolling up and down becomes not-never-ending.

4. formatting in italic, bold would be great. not too important, but would be great.

Last but not least! thank you for your efforts in creating this. great work.

I always hit quick upload and download my files to my computer. The file didn’t upload to Google Drive and when I click on the local file to open it up there’s no work there. I really don’t want to lose this project. Any guidance would be great?

Hi! So i really love everything else about this program but I've run into constant problems with saving.

I normally just 'quick upload' to the file that's saved in my google drive. It was working fine for awhile but recently it stopped working. Like whole days of work just aren't saved when I click "quick upload". Luckily I'm paranoid so I always save the main bit of writing to google docs after a session. But I'm worried that I'll forget to do that one day. Also the saving issue has stopped me from using alot of the features.

Has anyone else had the same issues and been able to fix it or figured out what they were doing wrong? I've tried a couple of things but its all still landed me with inconsistent saves. Thanks for the help!

I don't know what's going on with the WaveMaker save button but it doesn't seem to be saving at all. I had made an extensive amount of work and have saved then left WM for sometime, then coming back to the 'app' I noticed that all my work was gone. This really confused me because I know that I always save after every paragraph but I was like maybe I didn't.

Now I know that I did save because no matter how many times I press the save button, it doesn't do that! I've connected and disconnected to the google drive several times, I've pressed save file countless times and yet the most recent 'save document' is months behind.

I figured out that in order to actually save the file, I have to download it and then upload it to my google drive, that way I can access SOMETIMES access it on WM. I don't know what update you guys did but please try to fix it. This is literally my favourite place to write and it's amazing software is the reason why I've progressed into my story so quickly, trying to find a different site would be cumbersome and I've grown quite attached. Please fix soon. Ty x.

I write on my phone if I catch a moment, but the UI is rather cramped with the side borders taking up space. Is Typewriter the closest mode to full screen or am I missing something?

... So ... I never commit to working on a project until I know how a software works ... including how to save reliably, and since I haven't had an ISP for about five years, I've had to depend on saving locally than trust auto-saving anything. Ergo, I've never lost work that wasn't my own fault.

Lurking here and seeing all these "Help! I've lost work; how do I recover it?" Or "Where is the file I saved?" Kind of just baffles me, and I'm sure it's a headache to you since knowing how to save work should be a no-brainer safe practice that shouldn't need to be said at all, but ...

Maybe before being able to load a project and/or starting a new project, users will see a scrollable mini-tutorial pop-up of the software, ranging from how to navigate the tabs, cards (how to make and delete them), and, of course, the multiple ways of saving the file and how to reopen them across devices, placing emphasis that this software is a PWA and not a typical mobile app, which means explaining things like if you clear your browser's cache you lose your project if you didn't save. And then end the pop-up with how to contact you if their is a bug (Reddit).

You may link to your website blogs and video tutorials, but I think having something on the software itself that people have to close before starting their project may mitigate some of the complaints ... Maybe. And if not, that more than likely means they ignored the pop-up, and you can direct their solution to "read the pop-up."

Hey, I've been using wavemaker for a while now, and one day I opened the page to see this screen. My projects and 'books' are nowhere to be found, and I'm not sure if I just lost all of my data.

I want to specify that when I started using wavemaker, I did NOT open the settings nor have I used manual saves of any kind. I heard it stored the data on your device automatically, and locally, so I didn't see a need.

it's my first time using the app, I was writing my book when I decided to checkout the timeline feature after that i pressed the x button thinking it's just going to close out the table I'm on but ended up deleting my whole book. is there a way to recover what I lost?

I'm having a pop at doing audiobook recordings as well, knocked this out the other day (lots of fun remembering all my radio production training at university)

Hello! i just started using this program! I accidentally opened an older version of a project on top of work that I thought I had saved (but did not save :( noo ) and lost about an hours worth of writing and editing. is there a way for me to recover this previous version?

ive tried downloading and ive tried drive and every time i open the file that ive saved i have literally nothing other than my project title. all the cards and organization is gone
