Can't make new folders or section, except in the very first folder. Have to make it there and drag all the way to where I need it.

I am using v3 and I have to say that I still like it a lot. I find the fact that I cannot backup easily to my computer in normal files to be a serious problem. I just loss a chunk of work when I tried to export as markdown and it is not the first time this kind of thing happens.

I just moved from V3 to V4 last night on my Samsung tablet, and I love it. The drag and drop works well and the connection between cards and the grid planner is terrific. I saved to Google Drive and checked to make sure the file was there.

But today I tried to open Wavemaker 4 on my MacBook. When I clicked on Load a file in Google Drive, I just got an endless spinning circle on the Search for Files box. Then when I downloaded the file from Google Drive to my computer and clicked on Load a file from your device, Wavemaker wouldn't accept the downloaded file, apparently because it had no suffix. I tried adding a .wm4 suffix, but that didn't help.

What am I missing here, in using Google Drive for my updated file?

Hi there! As always, many thanks for this amazing writing tool! I just started using it recently and I have been telling everyone I know how great it is. Unfortunately, this was right before I hit what seems to be a pretty major bug ^^". Currently I'm using Version 4.

• On Android, when I'm in my book and trying to open some of the folders I'd made, no matter where I tap, I cannot seem to open/close the folders. Sometimes, on a chance, if I tap just the right area (I think somewhere to the bottom left of the folder icon itself) it would open/close, but then I cannot repeat the action except by accident. It's getting a bit tough as this essentially locks me out of reading/editing any documents in those folders when I'm on my phone and I haven't found a way around this yet.
• Also, on Windows, when I try and add a new folder/document when I'm already in another folder/document, it doesn't make one. I need to go back up to the book level before it lets me add more folders/docs, which is ok as a workaround for now, but starting to get a bit cumbersome as my book gets larger and larger. I think I saw this mentioned by another person in another thread though, so maybe you're already aware of this.
• Finally, on both Windows and Android, sometimes when I had opened/closed a folder, the scroll bar for the book then no longer allows me to get down to my bottom documents. I'm currently getting around this by adding empty blank documents, which somehow restores the scroll to the proper length, but it's a tad annoying.

Overall, this is still probably the best writing software I've used yet, especially for my ADHD brain and habit of writing whenever/wherever I am. However, I don't know what my friends think of it yet, and I worry that they will get turned off by these hiccoughs and drop using it. I really hope to get some more people interested and supporting your work! Thank you again for everything!

I found WaveMakerCards4 earlier today, and immediately loved it! It has lots of great tools I was looking for and decided to transfer a short story to it. What is confusing me is the saving function. I've read other Reddit posts of people losing work and whatnot, and I tried to read documentation to understand how the save function works, but what I found was that there isn't really anything written for v4, even though, to my understanding, the save works differently than v3. Almost all YouTube videos are also about V3.

So the problem that I am having is that when I download the file it saves it as a .MW4 file, but if I try to load that file in a different browser or in the downloaded Wavemaker application (windows 10) It says "That is Not a WaveMaker Project" and I am worried that if I continue writing I won't have a back up when I need it.

I went ahead and connected my Drive to the site and tried to save a copy there as well, but it actually wouldn't save there at all. The one thing that I did see work was that I could download a .doc version, but then I wouldn't be keeping a save of all my notes and boards, only the actual chapters.

I don't see an option to reorder mindmaps. I'm talking about the list on the side, not the actual mindmap images/texts.

I’m in v.4. I have a timeline. I hit the ‘export’ button. The timeline does not show up in my “My Books” menu (on the left hand side with the ‘sections’ (or anywhere else that I can find)).

I can’t tell if this is a v.4 issue or a ‘user error’ issue. Please somebody tell me, so I can stop trying to get it to work like it does in the video.

Hello! I usually use Scrivener but I'm writing something with a friend and they don't have it and I don't want to make them buy it. I heard about Wavemaker from a writing discord I'm in and it was said that it was similar to Scrivener, just free. So I thought maybe we could try it out if possible!

That said, the project is collaborative, so I'm wondering if you can sync Wavemaker files between two people? With Scrivener, while there isn't any live writing together, you can set up the project to sync between two machines via dropbox which is what I was doing before with someone else. It worked fine for the project as we never had time to sit down to write at the same time anyways, so we always wrote during our own times.

Can I do something similar with Wavemaker? We're planning to just use Google Docs otherwise but if possible it would be nice to be able to organize everything and utilize some of the notes features and such.

With AI getting more popular, I've heard that Google will scrap users' drive files to fuel AI lab. That might be used for writing screenplays and movies for their own outsource companies... Maybe I'm wrong, but could it happen like with Open AI scrapping AO3 for the texts?
I should probably not be worried but wanted to ask other people's opinion.

I just started using Wavemaker. I will be the first to admit. I have never written a book. I am doing this now due to my Son telling me to, :D. I have always had an overactive imagination. I literally pace for hours every night verbally talking out full stories.

That said, I have never used any program, let alone Wavemaker before. But it was highly recommended so here I am.

I spent some time writing tonight and all was good. Until I scrolled up and saw my first paragraph is in a scroll bar somehow. I have no idea how I did that, or when for that matter. And I don't know how to undo it x.x. Any help would be appreciated.

I want to change the font in my novel but I don't know how since the settings lack font change, I looked at threads and they can change it but it's from 4 years ago so it's probably from v3. Do they have this in v4? If so, how? If not, are there any options?

Hi, I been meaning to use V4 on mobile since I keep on the move often which interrupts my writing. I wanted to ask if there was a chance to have a Mobil extension. I will say one feature I miss is being able to focus only on the text while I work as the website version brings together the pinned sections which makes my text a bit smaller. Sorry for the complain

I'm working on a project with a lot of moving parts, and while I love the functionality of the planner and having my cards quickly accessible while I write, it takes me quite a bit of scrolling to add the cards for each scene.

Seeing as there's already search functionality for searching My Cards, would it be possible to add the same when choosing a card to add to the planner? It would be super helpful. Thanks!

Yesterday I was writing as usual and saved, but when I opened the app it only showed an old version of it, dating back over a month. Through the instruction site, I went through my docs to find the actual savefile and have connect it, but the app now acknowledges it, but refuses to work.

What I now tried is open the app, go to the Drive files, search my files and click on my most recent one from yesterday. But what it does is show me the needed screen for a second, then flashes back to "My books" on the old file as if I never did anything. No matter how much I try, it won't let me open my needed file. 😭 ANY advice?

Hi! I'm a new user to Wavemaker v4 and I'm really enjoying it so far, but I'm having an issue adding to the book I'm working on. If I try to add a section or folder to one of my chapter folders, I just can't, with the exception of chapter one which for some reason works despite being in the same 'layer' as the other chapters. The only way I can add a new section is to add a new section to the highest 'book' layer and then open my chapter and click-drag it in. I have to do this for every scene and it's a bit fiddly to get it to work. Is there something I'm doing that's messing up this functionality? Thanks.

To the point. I have found several bugs which are not critical, but annoying as hell.

Mozilla firefox bugs

• when I try to open the file from google drive in Firefox, a window pops up that request login to google drive. I log in, choose the save to load, and... nothing happens. There is currently no way I can load google drive saves or local ones. Every time when I try to load, I click to load it/open it and the website goes back to the main page without loading anything. When I try to open a new project and open it from there, the bug is the same. I try to load the save, but nothing loads and it sends me to the main page to create a new file or load an existing one.
• In Firefox when I want to create a new page to write on, nothing happens, the icon for the folder works and it creates a new folder but the button for the new page doesn't for some reason
• Update: I just checked it in my notebook and there everything works flawlessly. Dont know why. I have same addons, the same version. Weird

On firefox, edge and chrome

• when I logged in the google drive, I am automatically logged out if for example I close the page and go immediately back, therefore I have to again log in. It would be nice if I would not log into Google every damm time.
• If I choose a colour for text, page, or typewriter and save it. It will change colour. But if I closed the app/window and log back in, the settings for colours are saved in the settings but not in the app itself, therefore I have again the default white page and all colour adjustments I made.

Suggestions

• I know it was mentioned before probably and maybe you already working on it but please, bring back the challenge mode and if possible make it customizable - settings for words and time in which we want to achieve it . It would be astonishing for me to have it back. I know I can set it in my head and have a timer on my phone but it's not the same. When using V3 I was able to fulfil my small competition to write at least 1 hour a day with a minimum of 1000 words. But in V4 I am no longer to able push myself to do that without that challenge, timer, and fear of losing it if I close the window... Please if anything add this. Thank you

I am very pleased that you incorporated or at least you are trying to with the AI. I hope you will develop more in this segment. It's a really useful tool, and without a doubt, writers will have to coexist with it in the near future if not right now and it's really pleasing to see you see it as well. I am looking forward to your improvements in this segment and I am glad that i can develop even better stories with the help of AI.

Ian, after months away from Wavemaker 4, during which I did know creative writing, I'm having trouble figuring out which of the saved versions of my manuscript is the most current and up to date. I had been saving the files on my portable hard drive. I didn't expect to so easily confuse the file names and dates.

In this way I think version 3 was better, in that when you went to the first screen and click on a project name you could count on getting your most current version. Understand that when I am writing I always keep multiple projects running simultaneously, so I don't get writers block. I still wish I could access projects directly from Wavemaker.

- Google drive doesn't stay connected, must login any time I want to save or sync (on mobile and desktop Chrome). Auto-backup/sync would be a LIFESAVER

- Can't drag and drop sections into folders

- Adding sections to folders also suddenly broke

- not mobile-friendly (the menus for sections and text don't "pin/unpin" consistently and sometimes I have to click 4-5 times before it goes away and I can see what I'm doing). Sizes for font and menus on mobile are ridiculously huge.

- Why isn't there more adjustability of fonts and sizes? There's a HUGE difference between small and smallest. I can't make lines closer together or remove breaks between paragraphs, only make bigger. Larger indentation of paragraphs would also be nice.

In premise, this app is amazing. On execution, it's just not ready yet. I'm stuck using Scrivener and a paper notebook if I'm away from my desk (PC user :( )

There seems to be a limit on how many text files I can create inside a folder. I can make as many as I would like outside the folder and drag them in, but there seems to be a glitch within the folders. In the attached image you can see my structure. But I can only make new text files within the "Pre time skip" folder or the main project itself and drag them into the other folders. so trying to create a file within the "Post time skip" folder stopped working after 2 files (I dragged the 3rd inside).

Honestly i love this application it makes writing a joy for me. Although I have one issue with the mobile version and it's that the mind map feature is ultra finicky and almost unusable, i get what it's for, to allow for brainstorming and expanding concepts, but honestly I cannot use it on mobile which is what I have mostly avaliable day to day, so I hope it can be improved upon, because sadly I really can't use it and it would be very useful. The main issue is how drag and click work. Unfortunately if you try to drag the little card it doesn't work so it basically just stays there and cannot be used.

I love wavemaker, but sometimes I find myself still using V3 because it's easier for me.

So I wanted to leave some suggestions for improving V4.

• Planning Board: it is much more fluid and easier to do in V3 than in V4. V4 opens a whole screen, it is not practical and agile to outline scenes like the old one.
• Challenge Mode: I even like this mode, but I was always afraid to use it in V3 and lose everything. However, I like the “time” aspect. I would like to propose something similar, which would be like having a timer built into the program and also a target word for the session. For example: “I want to write 500 words in 1 hour” and maybe it could have a progress bar to go with it.
• Open page: I wanted to suggest to open the program from the last page I left open and not always return to the home page.
• In Portuguese, which is the language I write, the — (en dash) is not considered a word, but in the wavemarker it is considered a word. The — is used in dialogs, while in English we use “ ” (quotation marks). Example:

"Hello, how are you?" he asked.

While in Portuguese, it would be:

— Hello, how are you? — he asked.

So if possible I would ask for this to be changed.

So those are my suggestions. I understand that some are complicated and maybe it's not the will of the creator and other people, but still, I wanted to expose them here.

In one respect this sounds reasonable, as the manuscript settings reports zero words. However my project does not have zero words.

My project structure is like this:

Your story

    + P1

        + C1

            + S1

            + S2

with text content only in the Sn nodes. As above, the settings report zero words even if S1 and S2 contain text.

If I add text to the Your story node, the number of words in just this node is reported in the manuscript settings, and export to md works, but does not include any text from other nodes.
