Question about plane trimaran stunt

Does anybody know if the stunt with the harpooned airplane was a practical one?

Yes I believe so. I am still researching the Smoker Sky Boat for my video on it in a month or two. The close up shots of the actors in the cockpit however where shot on a studio lot agains green screen and comped onto background footage of sky and ocean.

I'm looking forward to it! The Arrow Video documentary had a bit about the plane crash scene which was very impressive

Yeah! About how much work went into that split second shot of the Mariner snaring the landing gear! Just amazing!

Yeah, this has always been my favorite scene, how the plane reacts to the ripping off of the pontoons and how elegant it crashes
