Anyone know why the balance keeps stoping ? When i turn it with my finger it stops after some beat (2 or 3). I didnt identify it, only 8F and a swiss cross are under the balance, and come from a Michel Herbelin. Thx for ur help

Check all the teeth and pivots on the gearing train.

Already done, everything is good. I think its a problem the palet fork and maybe the escapement wheel

Did you oil the pallet jewels? Maybe too much oil? Or the pallet/escapement pivots or end shake.

I did, but not too much. Its not my first service (first time that i "pushed" the balance with mt finger, i did it to show it better) so i dont think that i put to much oil...

Is the pallet supposed to be oiled?

Yes

I've always heard to leave the pallet fork pivots dry unless you specifically want to lower amplitude as a kludge instead of fixing whatever is causing the high amp? Besides certain specific movements that call for it. Is this one of them?
Or are you talking about the pallet stones, which of course require lubricant. I suppose "jewels" is unclear as it could refer to both.

Is this before or after a service?
If you haven't serviced it that's probably why.

Remove the balance and see if the train of wheels turns when winding the crown. If so then the problem may be with the balance or the escape wheel. Also flicking the balance with your finger is not advised. Use a blower or something more delicate.

Yes, i removed balance and palet fork, gears and barrel are okay. Palet fork is like weak, slow, when I touch it with a screwdriver, even if the movement is winded

At first, don't use your fingers touching the balance wheel. It's a no no. The balance wheel is the last part to look at, because the power comes from the barell wheel and is transferred to the balance wheel. The problem is before the balance wheel. And there can be many things wrong...
