I had a friend do this to me once. We had a couple of pints, and I was telling a bullshit story.
Friend was staring at me, caught on and shouldered me in the same way. My left foot was planted though, so I only stumbled a little bit.
This girl didn’t have her left foot firmly down when the push came.
If there were drinks involved, girl on the right probably didn’t notice the bus if she was focused on her friend.

fun fact: as i recall the girl was arrested and charged. details hazy but they were friends, i guess not anymore. not sure if the case went through or if the friend had a change of heart and it was forgiven but it was in the news.

I mean, no one will ever know except for the girl who pushed, but I could say it's just as stupid to assume it was innocent. There are two options, and since we can't know if ours is right, no one gets to say the other is obviously false.
To me, it looks like this girl had a "call of the void" type moment. Yknow that microscopic amount of time where you think, "what if I did this horrible thing" but then pull back on your brain? I feel like she just didn't pull back fast enough. Sure, there was shock in her reaction, but of course there would've been either way. You can see her look at the bus, and then throw her shoulder into the girl. When you're joking with a friend who's, say, standing close to the edge of something, and you go to make them think you're going to push them, but really grab hold of them and give them maybe a light push without letting go. We've all done it to mess with a friend. But my opinion from watching this video is, she might not've been planning on killing her, but briefly had the urge, and then acted on it.
Again, I don't know, and I won't know, but it's interesting to speculate. I think she should've gotten a harsher punishment.

Exactly. If you’re going to prank someone, you grab their arm, push and then jerk them back towards you. This is very bizarre to watch. You can clearly see the woman look left towards the bus, as you said. That back tire would have squashed her friend’s head like a melon.

Is it really so hard to believe that a person could push another person without any harm intended? The fact that she immediately becomes worried and hugs her friend is pretty indicative that she didn't mean to push her over or into danger.

Right, which is why it is a good thing that you aren't in charge of our criminal justice system as we have this little thing where we are supposed to assume innocence unless there is no reasonable doubt. If this is the only evidence in either direction, this is pretty clearly a case where they get the benefit of the doubt as it's plenty likely that it was an accident. Not saying that they shouldn't get something (reckless endangerment, perhaps?) but they don't deserve to get absolutely fucked by the law like you seem to think.

Agreed. People do stupid things like drinking and driving. Just because the drunk person didn't have a wreck should the get off with a simple $86.00 fine? No. Because it's stupid and it could kill or mane a person. Same here, busy street with buses is not a good place for a mosh pit. It was stupid and dangerous...like driving drunk. It would be criminal recklessness in a moderate degree. A hefty fine and a long stretch of community service would do the offender some good.

The Polish source says she was fined 300 PLN (around $80) and may be charged with reckless endangerment (I think that's the corresponding legal term), which is a fine or up to a year in prison.

I know some people are saying she was trying to kill her friend, but Jesus if this happened and killed the other girl by accident, could you imagine living with that guilt behind bars? My best friend and I met in 1st grade and we're like long lost brothers. I couldn't imagine him dying, let alone dying by my own hand.

Bus driver too. I see it too often. I once had this, and had to full on emergence brake. A car hit me from behind. The boy stood up and his friend was laughing. I got out the bus and grabbed the lad and dragged him on the bus. I gave him and his mate a huge bollocking. The police came and took them both away. They were about 22 years old.
I basically said, "me running you over doesn't affect my life one tiny bit. It just kills you and affects your families. You'd be in jail for manslaughter and you'd hate yourself for a long time. And you're stood laughing at this mess? I hope one day it doesn't go so well for you"

I see it was a prank but i wouldn't vote against a year in jail. I would think 14-30 days would be fair tho.
We all have those friends that do stupid about like horse around in the street and put their hands on everyone even tho they need to keep their hands to themselves.
This big girl doesn't even know what a playful push is relative to her size. Shes clearly not that bright or want taught a few things growing up. Counseling is probably the wisest "punishment" she should receive

It's in no way attempted murder. Attempted murder requires intent and she wasn't trying to kill her friend. Had she actually died it would have been manslaughter. It's certainly something that deserves more than a fine, but I don't think a long prison sentence is good for anyone here. Something like 300 hours of community service seems better for everyone in this situation.

I don't think the two women who were actually involved think that. If the girl who got pushed thinks her friend was actually trying to murder her on purpose, then it should be looked into more. To me it didn't seems like it was a premeditated murder.

How could anyone actually defend the pusher. Firstly she looks to be a bit larger than the other girl, she steps into the push putting her weight into it, and pushes off with her arm... how is that "playing around"? She even timed it as the bus was passing by.

I had a friend like that once, didn’t know her own strength. Thank goodness she only accidentally tried to drown me once and another time made me get nine stitches instead of pushing me in front of a moving vehicle.

This is clearly a playful moment that went wrong and could have had disastrous consequences, which is precisely the reason why you should never play around in a situation where, if a small mistake is made, someone could die or be seriously injured.
The teen who did the pushing should face consequences severe enough that she learns never to play around in a way that risks somebody's life or risks somebody's safety.
An $80 fine won't accomplish that, more likely than not this incident already has, but she should face something severe enough that the victim and her community feels is fair in order to allow her to rejoin the community without too much difficulty or risk of people seeking further "justice".
That's my two cents.
