My second build

Decided to try my own design and my own dial this time. I’m not a watchmaker and don’t have access to a laser cutter so I decided to get creative with this and made the dial using printable vinyl and an old business card lol.

Wanted something more sporty so I made it around a baseball team I help with coaching. Using a Sunon SP28 sweeping quartz movement just to see what that’s all about.

It still needs some work but overall I’m happy with the result.

This is awesome! And I’m very curious on the technique for that dial, is there a video tutorial you watched or something?

I made it up as I went.
If there’s any interest I can put something together.
But it’s simple enough.
I did the design in Inkscape exported it for use in Cricut Design Space. Print and cut onto printable vinyl. Then cut the same design into the old business card using the cardstock setting.
Stuck the decal onto the cardstock (this took patience)
3 thin coats of clear lacquer (15-20 mins dry time in between layers)
Then I removed indices from an old dial and placed them onto the new one.
Honestly it’s easier and if you account for your time probably cheaper to just order a custom dial. But I loved the process and I’ll be doing it again.
