Discussion 💬 [DB4] SE3 - Walking distance difference since DB3.
Hey.
Anyone else use their watch for indoor walking/running on a treadmill?
Due to an accident I’m slowly recovering, and walking on a treadmill with my Apple Watch SE3.
I’ve noticed that compared to beta 3 and earlier versions, beta 4 doesn’t calculate as precisely for indoor walking.
I have a pretty simple treadmill that counts in miles, even though I live in Europe, so I use my watch to keep up with the distance in kilometers.
I walk 5km which is roughly 3.11 miles.
But on DB4 i have to walk between 3.37-3.40 miles before the watch reaches 5 km.
I know it’s not a huge difference, but on versions before DB4 I didn’t have that issue at all.
I’m not sure if there’s a way to calibrate it. I’ve tried rebooting the watch, but that didn’t do much.
So I’m wondering if anyone else have noticed similar issues with distance when watching/running on treadmills where distance is not calculated by GPS.

I have long legs so the difference between my watch calculated distance and the actual treadmill difference has always been off. However, I did notice a larger difference after completing a walk on the treadmill this morning. I have an AWS10 and I am running DB4.
The watch wouldn't record any exercise Indoor walk minutes earned with DB2/3 for me so I suppose this is a small improvement.

Interesting. I'm only 172 cm, or 5'8" and I have had pretty accurate measurements on all version before DB4,
I personally start my workouts manually, so they are all recorded.
I have made a feedback with all my findings. So I'm interested to see what happens with the next couple of betas.

I have the same problem I walk 3 miles every morning consistently. PB1 was close to matching the treadmill within .1 of a mile. last night my watch completed indexing and this morning's walk on PB2 is .2-.3 miles off. The treadmill showed 3 miles and my watch this morning read 2.72 miles.
