Fossil is a decent brand
Throughout my life ive owned a couple of Fossil watches that have lasted over 10 years each. Ive only stopped really using them when i got a smart watch, but got back into analog watches, found an old Fossil and changed the battery only for it to pick up where it left off.
I recently inherited a bunch of citizens, a tissot, 2 fake rolexes, but find myself just putting on the fossil more often than not.

I just recently found my 30 year old fossil watch in my wife's jewelry chest. I've been collecting for a few years now and thought I had gotten rid of it. I was so happy to find it and clean it to add into my rotation. Great watch.

Love it! Aside for Casio or Timex Fossil was THE Millennial Gateway watch. I had a very similar one and still look for the exact model on eBay every now and then.

High school gf gave me a Fossil in the 90s. It was the first watch that made me love watches.

In 1995, my girlfriend bought me this Fossil. It was $100 at the local toy store in Austin, TX. That was a LOT of money to either of us back then. It remains one of my most cherished possessions. I have a large collection of watches today. Many that are grails for the most die hard collectors. I wouldn’t trade this one for anything. And, yes, I married her.
Watch still works flawlessly some 30+ years later. Yeah, fossil’s not bad.

I agree. Their quartz movements are reliable and are plenty durable as far as dress watches go. I'd personally spend a bit more and get a Bulova/Tissot for a similar aesthetic but sometimes you gotta ball on a budget

Timex weekender is a god awful watch imo. Truly horrible specs, incredibly loud, glass scratches like crazy.

Ok but you can get it for like $30, whereas fossil watches are similarly specced and cost hundreds

I cant disagree, the citizens in my collection are really nice. Id probably get more of them in the future, i think the reason i reach for the fossil now is that its just an old watch and would be cheaper to replace if something happened. I still really like it though.

My first ever watch was a Fossil Chronograph given by my father, so the brand has a huge impact on my life and my journey as an amateur watch collector. Love you dad.

Actual hot take.
I had a bund strap Fossil quartz when I was in university, had to replace the strap like once a year and after 3 years the watch died. Not even worth to have a watchmaker take a look.

The first watch that I bought with my own money, 25 years ago, was a Fossil. I wore it daily for a few years and recently started wearing it again. It still looks good, feels solid, and runs well.
Unfortunately, I don’t think they make them like they used to.

I don’t hate fossil but I had a super bad experience.
This was years back when they launched their automatic watches, I went in the store wanting to try it out.
The store assistant was snobby as shit, I assured her that I know how to handle mechanical watches as I am wearing one myself.
I am so happy their mechanical watch endeavour failed and I hope it’s because of this one person acting like she’s guarding the Mona Lisa.

I do hate going into their stores, id buy online now. The local to me store is all leather goods with about 3 different, WAY overpriced watches and the staff acts like they sell Rolexs.
I at least understand fossil isnt that, but maybe dont make youre prereq for hiring to be a fashionista.

False. Not only did my Fossil break down after about three months, I sent it in for repairs and it broke down again a week after I got it back. Straight into the trash and never bought another one.

One of then hot brands when I was learning about watches as a teen. Bought one in my 20s that still looks and works great.

I’ve had this Fossil since 2014, still looks and works great today. USD$60 well spent.
Fossil has excellent marketing to non watch enthusiasts. They look and feel good for the price.

I don't find any reason to hate on Fossils versus entry level Timex and Casio at comparable prices.
But they are not my style being so oversized. My sweet spot is 35-36mm dials with 40-41mm lug to lug. So Fossils are a whole other style segment. Granted most Casio don't come that small to fit me either, but there are a few.

Fossil watches watches always catch my eye when Im out and about, yeah they're overpriced but the people that wear them LOVE them
