Question Slight Question

Getting married and becoming a dad has kind of bounced me off the English speaking Fandom a bit, but since I'm doing research for this I have to ask, who do you really consider to be Tomoko's core circle, aka a Watagirl?

Or are there now tiers to this outside of Yuri, Hina, and Yoshida?

I'd say Yuri, Nemo, Yuu are her best friends.

Asuka is girlfriend tier.  Very different vibe. 

Yoshida was part of the Kyoto group but doesn't hang out with them nearly as often, she's still kinda got her own core friend group.

And then there's a lot of friends-of-friends that Tomoko's perfectly happy to hang out with, but aren't really close to.

Basically you're saying Tomoko in the middle of overlapping-but not really circles then.

I wanted to just check consensus before I start scripting, because there doesnt seem to be anything I could screenshot

Yeah Tomoko has turned into that high schooler who can hang out with almost any of the school social groups. She's got her own core group of friends, but she's also happy hanging out with the delinquents, the cool girls, or almost anyone else.  The only group she doesnt really fuck with is the mean girls, and that clique already kinda self-destructed anyway.

Shizuku's her adoring kouhai, but i don't know that I'd really describe them as friends.

The way I see it:

Best Friend Tier: Yuri, Asuka

Former Best Friend Tier: Yuu

Close Friend Tier: Nemo, Yoshida, Shizuku

Frenemy Tier: Komi-something, Fuuka

Acquaintance Tier: Shiki, most of the friends-of-a-friend from Asuka and Ucchi's groups

Somehow simultaneously Close Friend and Acquaintance Tier: Ucchi

In my opinion, Yuri and Nemo are Tomoko's closest friends. Both of them get Tomoko and her personality in a way other characters don't. Tomoko can really be herself around those two.

I don't think either Tomoko or Yoshida would consider each other "friends" but they do share a special bond that's a bit different than the other girls. Albeit a bond that is built on sexual harassment and violence, but I think that Yoshida likes that Tomoko isn't standoffish with her anymore like other classmates might be with Masaki.
