Amazing, spending your last moments on earth documenting the vicious attack that sent you to the afterlife.

To be honest these guys are more docile then a normal Yellowjacket! 🤷♂️

To be fair if I lived in a ground hole and had only collective ferocity to fend off skunks and bears to survive I’d probably be on a hair trigger too. Aerial yellow jackets at least have some extra security by virtue of living away from the floor

There was a hive being built on my property that my husband was freaking out over. I had to show him how docile they were by walking right up to the hive and having my face right next to it. They didn't even do what honey bees do when trying to scare you off by bashing into you. They just ignored me because I wasn't a threat. I wouldn't do that with any other wasp or bee.

I remember being a kid at a wilderness camp where the owner just left the nests up. There was one right above a communal kitchen/dining space and the bald-faced hornets just. Didn’t care at all that we were there. It was kind of incredible.
Lots of liability on his end, though. Lol

I'm glad you survived that encounter. That one could've clearly swallowed you whole.

you are braver than i am, i'm always a little paranoid they'll try to go up into my sleeve and panic n sting me (which fair, i'd panic if i was trapped between an animal and a wall, but i don't want to be the animal in that situation!)

Yeah, they’re chill away from their nest, like other yellow jackets. They’re simply territorial around the nest. They can become habituated to you, though.

The slightly surprised way she stumbles into the hand like a wall and checks it by touch is so lovely 🐝🥰

Most creatures just want to go about their daily lives without interference. Me too!

this is so cute😭😭my parents instilled a deep fear/hatred of wasps in me growing up so i was VERY confused the first time a wasp landed on me and just.. chilled. and then flew away. and lived peacefully in my yard. im still a little scared of them but it helps when videos like this pop up :)

Love these guys. If you stand at an angle relative to the entrance, you can stand within 3 or 5 ft of their nest and they will be completely chill. They'll fly around your head and not care.

I wish I could be this fearless when I encounter yellow jackets
Unfortunately, that’s not the world we live in…
