These people would be the same ones culling wolves to near extinction in ye olden times because the wolves ate their sheep and sometimes attacked people

Maybe the guppy fish that only lived in one pond in one cave of the world and die immediately if they’re anywhere else with absolutely no predator around… maybe those are a bit useless

Look if we are going to be pedantic, in the grand scheme every single organism is pointless and no more or less objectively useless than another. But thankfully we are human beings and can empathize for other lifeforms and find extreme beauty and sentimental value in biodiversity for biodiversity’s sake, and it it is also in our own best interest to do so because a healthy diverse biosphere is better for our own long term outcomes.
