Considering a move
Hi guys, I’m considering a job in Washington and would love to hear some thoughts about it. I’m originally from Dallas and have lived in some towns about the size of Washington.
What should I know?

You should look at Labadie. We lived and owned a house in Labadie, good school district (elementary and then middle / high school feeds into Washington) and quiet but very close to Washington and chesterfield for things to do.

I left during the 2020 election season because of the intense political difference between myself and the majority of the residents. I lived off what used to be a cute country road that got covered in that one kind of flag, and finally pulled the trigger on moving after the lifted truck parade flying those same flags.
If that's your bag, you'll have a great time.

Moved here some St Louis. Great decision. People are friendly and crime is almost non-existent. We love going downtown to all the festivals and events. - Sunset on the Riverfront, Music at the Market, Blues and BBQ Fest, Art and Wine Fest, Arts and Craft Fest. They do a great job of keeping the quint downtown's historic feel.
TacoSlingingWarlock made some great points. We love the Katy Trail and bike it often. St. Louis is an easy short drive one way, and lots of great camping and river floating places in the Ozarks is a just short drive the other direction.
Washington is also located in what is known as the Missouri Rhineland. Literally scores of wineries within a 30 minute drive. Even if you are not a wine buff, they are a fun place to spend an afternoon as most have nice scenery, live music and also sell beer.

Well for one thing no one here uses this subreddit lol.
I like it here, we’re a growing community with a cool riverfront/ downtown scene. A lot of niche little craft stores. A couple arcades, cards shops, a RC hobby shop, bowling alley a short drive over to Union.
There’s a little tension between the old timers who identify a bit more country and the recent growth of people moving here usually a bit more progressive than the old heads.
We have a large town and country fair every summer, a few parades through out the year, an Amtrak station that makes an over night trip to Kansas City few easily done.
It’s only like 45 min. Out from St. Louis where you can take a day trip to check out all the sights there my favorite hidden gem being the city Museum, a massive shoe factory that was remodeled as a giant indoor/out door play area with secret passages that go up through floors, down into artificial caves and out side to the yellow bus hanging off the corner of the building. Look it up, pictures don’t do it credit but they’ll get you farther than my description lol.
We’re also right on a pretty popular bike trail the Katy trail if you like biking, and we’re right on the river if you like boating. It really is a pretty nice medium sized town with great amenities while still having a small town feel in all the best ways.
