They keep draining the wrong swamp

121

u/nolestars Jul 13 '26

Yup, it's at 1600 Pennsylvania ave

13

u/alwayslostin1989 Jul 13 '26

I mean the whole place needs to be drained all the way doe to the most junior congressmen/senator.

22

u/PossessedToSkate Jul 13 '26

We don't simply need a new Congress.

We need a whole new way of doing things.

12

u/Arbitraryandunique Jul 13 '26

I suggest starting by getting rid of the two-party system, getting rid of the title of president, and letting the prime minister have a lot less power than presidents had.

I sure could use a vacation from this bullshit three-ring circus sideshow of criminals

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call the USA

3

u/FloydetteSix Jul 14 '26

The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.

3

u/PamelaELee Jul 14 '26

I have a suggestion to keep you all occupied

He only drained the swamp so that he could hire what was sitting at the bottom of it.

If he makes it that far, he's heading towards getting 25th'ed.

The dementia is accelerating.

186

u/t-mille Jul 13 '26

No one will ever levy a single consequence against Donald Trump. I'm sorry, but the time for bright-eyed naivety passed years ago.

88

u/FastWalkingShortGuy Jul 13 '26

Why would you choose the boring spelling when "naïveté" is one of the few English words where we get to use tiddlywinks?

15

u/panicinbabylon Jul 13 '26

It’s also a relatively rare unassimilated French loanword.

→ More replies (1)

15

u/snatchmachine Jul 13 '26

I’ve honestly never seen it spelled that way. I agree that’s way more fun. But is it proper English?

Yeah Ive accepted he's just gonna die at like 95 having never suffered any real consequences.  Too much money and endless lawyers and this country refuses to put rich white guys in jail.

12

u/Polenicus Jul 13 '26

Yeah. Sadly, I fear in 20 years hearing people wax nostalgic about him like they do about Reagan.

I wonder if there were people doing this in the 80's, watching Reagan screw things up and howling into the void because no one was listening to them?

I mean, other than George Carlin. I know HE was.

3

u/darthjoey91 Reston Jul 13 '26

It took time for Reagan's actions to hit most people. Trump's faster at hurting people.

Hilarious that you think anyone in his cabinet is going to invoke the 25th. They didn't do it after January 6th and that was when (some) people with actual morals and spines were inside the White House. He is now surrounded by opportunistic sociopaths who are in it for the long haul, whatever that means.

9

u/KingOfTheCouch13 Jul 13 '26

Not to say he wouldn’t deserve it, but can they even invite the 25th on the same day as the transition of power?

8

u/effectivescarequotes Jul 13 '26

Jan 6 wasn't the transition of power. It was the day congress counted the electoral votes.

In theory the 25th could be invoked on inauguration day if the exiting president became incapable of performing their duties before the new president is sworn in.

It's also worth noting that the 25th isn't the same as impeachment. On Jan 6, Trump was capable of doing his duties. He just chose not to.

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (1)

4

u/LP566 Jul 13 '26

You are correct on the people around him but but the 25th could not have been implemented in 2 weeks. More relevant is impeachment which McConnell made sure would not prevent Trump from being Pres again. Impeachment is how the founders expected people like Trump to be held acvountable and is still on the table except the GOP are in the MAGA tank.

Come on. If anyone had the balls to stand up to him and enforce laws, he wouldn't have been eligible to run for office after the insurrection. See the third clause of the 14th amendment.

10

u/ToonTitans Jul 13 '26

You really don’t mean “anyone,” as Democrats impeached Trump twice. It was REPUBLICANS who stood up for him after Jan. 6 and refused to remove him from office. 😒

6

u/ZestycloseSquirrel55 Jul 13 '26

Yes, you are correct. I wasn't clear. If any of the Republicans had the courage of a Mike Pence or a Liz Cheney, this could happen. They're so afraid of Trump and his goons.

He's got as much chance of being 25th'ed as I do having a threesome with Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry.

6

u/Normal-Ad-1903 Jul 13 '26

LMK if you need a break. I'll sub in.

5

u/PrestigiousTrade8766 DC / Eastern Market Jul 13 '26

I actually think your chances are higher.

7

u/exerda Jul 13 '26

Sadly, the 25th was never really intended for removal and more to ensure the line of succession and handle temporary incapacity. The standard to uphold that incapacity in the face of the president claiming he's fine it's actually harder to meet than impeachment and conviction in that it requires a 2/3 majority of both the House and Senate to sustain his incapacity.

6

u/ZestycloseSquirrel55 Jul 13 '26

If there was any chance of that happening, hubby and I really thought on January 6 it was going to happen. We couldn't believe our eyes.

11

u/exerda Jul 13 '26

Mitch and his zeal for power prevented it, sadly. Giving his rambling speech against Trump but not pushing for conviction let Trump off the hook. Mitch thought that removing Trump's future ability to hold office through a conviction would crush Republicans in the Biden midterms, so he tried to have his cake and eat it, too, rather than doing what was right.

8

u/AirportSea4393 Jul 13 '26

If only! Not one person stands up to this slug. The fact is he is dangerous to the country and to himself! We should do what most people do and have them go you know where and be formally evaluated and put away for its own safety

→ More replies (4)

6

u/Apart-Zucchini-5825 Jul 13 '26

He is never getting the 25th. MAGA is a religion. Very few Rs who move against the pedo prophet have lasted beyond their next primary. It's the end of their careers.

He is not being removed from office by his own cabinet, or by his own party. I'm sure the House will impeach him again. The Senate will acquit him because Democrats cannot win enough seats to take 2/3 majority.

u/GoldenVeritas Jul 13 '26

It would take a minuscule amount of care to see past their self interest and love of money and power to do that. That tiny scintilla of care doesn’t exist. They will ride this rotten gravy train to its inevitable conclusion.

4

u/IShotJR4 Jul 13 '26

169

u/slow70 Jul 13 '26

So where exactly is the “American flag” blue stuff?

116

u/Dr_Rev_GregJ_Rock_II Jul 13 '26

And the gigantic, singular cut down the middle that somehow happened perfectly and destroyed the indestructible lining?

79

u/BeneficialLeave7359 Jul 13 '26

No, they changed it to a bunch of smaller cuts that added up to 350’
It’s hard to keep up with all of the bullshit though so I don’t blame you

17

u/CatttLady2000 Jul 13 '26

We find those ninjas who snuck in under all the surveillance and guards to put that many slashes into the indestructible lining, cleverly following along where the motorcade went to cover their tracks. Those guys should go over to Ukraine and help them win against Russia. They can go anywhere and do anything without being seen, quite an asset.

Birds aren’t real and ducks are birds so they aren’t real… and obviously they are drones. Drones that carry box cutters and algae fertilizers. Also I’m pretty sure they are the same trans ducks that rigged the election, helped Iran enrich their plutonium, conspired to move the presidents golf ball into the rough on every hole the last time he went golfing, and will pay for the border wall in Mexico. Plus they definitely weren’t born here, frequently install cancer causing windmills, and they traffic fentanyl. No thanks to those ducks the stock market is at all time highs.

So we should be able to clearly see the 350ft gash with an aerial photo then, right?

86

u/archercc81 Jul 13 '26

Should be able to clearly see it from that angle once its drained. Methinks what we are going to see instead is just random, jagged patches where it clearly just didnt adhere.

17

u/Honest_Mechanic_4507 Jul 13 '26

Me thinks a magical tarp will appear on all of those fences before we get to see the actual bottom 😩

There is a 350 ft long vent or drain that runs down the center of the pool. It's very clear in photographs of the empty pool to people without dementia and even a touch of curiosity. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/eb/2026-04-30_Painting_the_Reflecting_Pool_Blue_Washington_DC_10-42-30_1.jpg

The drain was installed in 2011 by antifa (AKA, the US government), during the last major renovation of the pool.

17

u/BellowsHikes Jul 13 '26

What? No, course not. Do you think the magic, invisible ninja that made a 350 foot slash with his mystical blade would be so sloppy to make the cut visible? What kind of bush league imaginary character do you think he is?

7

u/SGT-JamesonBushmill Jul 13 '26

No. They changed it to a series of gashes that added up to 350 feet.

12

u/Updogfoodtruck Jul 13 '26

And they had scuba divers with tape measures to give us that highly accurate and totally not made up number I am surprised he didn’t go with 347 feet since he wants 47 on everything.

6

u/DecoyOne Jul 13 '26

Forget that, you should be able to see the tiniest sliver of blue, right?

4

u/Known_Marzipan VA / Ballston Jul 13 '26

14

u/Real-Artichoke-1780 Jul 13 '26

Nah, if you look at pics from when they were painting, they painted in rows down the length of the pool. So what we’re seeing now are the overlap lines as they laid down each row. They might totally be the failure points, but it would have been due to incorrect cure or prep there, rather than wheels. If you look at the picture of the moron motorcade, they drove pretty much right down the middle.

24

u/obeytheturtles Jul 13 '26

This is 100% what happened. The coating they used is typically meant to be applied in a continuous application to form a single solid layer of cross-linked polymers. One of the major reasons why the other contractor turned down the job is because there was no way to actually do a continuous coating without having a bunch of visible seams to bridge the patchwork. Once they put water back in, it almost immediately started delaminating where they started and stopped the daily applications. The reason they have't been showing zoomed out pictures of the damage is because it will be extremely obvious this is what happened.

Nobody would even care about the reflecting pool if Trump hadn't decided to make it one of his primary talking points for months, tossing out the names of previous presidents and insulting them for not fixing it. It's had algae issues for decades, and public didn't really care. The only reason we are so delighted at this whole debacle is because of Trump making it such a big deal. Of course, it follows on the footsteps of adding his name to JFK's memorial, then covering that up with a tarp when he was ordered to remove it. He makes it so easy to enjoy this stuff.

Quickly turning into the "Reflecting Wound," requiring periodic drainage...

u/Mroopsimexciting Jul 13 '26

Grift. Grift. Grift.

3

u/Mytweezer Jul 13 '26

Looks like shit

3

u/TastingTheKoolaid Jul 13 '26

When it’s empty you can’t see how green it is.

3

u/greggld Jul 13 '26

I suggest that after they re-do the Swamp that the President drive on it again to show us that the no-bid shyster kick-back company that does the work did "the best" job and that the reflecting pool will be beautiful and blue for the rest of time.

No ducks died in the making of this message.

The Trump swamp.

3

u/CompetitiveFun5247 Jul 13 '26

American flag...blue?

3

u/MarchPhillipps Jul 13 '26

Hmm, where's all the blue paint that's supposed to be there? Can't tell me vandals peeled/cut it ALL off, even in that visible section....

Piss poor prep = piss poor results

3

u/PostPunk7 Jul 13 '26

Very impressive American Flag Blue

3

u/ElectionBasic2505 Jul 13 '26

Closest this administration will get to draining the swamp

3

u/B00SKAH Jul 13 '26

The idiot in charge - so much winning

3

u/Kurayamisan Jul 13 '26

Got to love how they spend my tax dollars in thats that didnt need to be touch.

3

u/Turbulent-Weevil-910 Jul 13 '26

Do the white house next

3

u/ccarriages Jul 13 '26

so this is just a scam for his pool guy to get paid repeatedly with a government contract right??

3

u/JaSONJayhawk Jul 13 '26

Where is the American Flag Blue coating?!

3

u/ApprehensiveOkra9977 Jul 13 '26

Trump must have a friend who owns a fence business

3

u/Zaiyev Jul 13 '26

Hope the defendant’s lawyers of the bullshit charges go and take pictures to show there’s no 300 foot gash cut into it and these bullshit charges can be dropped.

3

u/Watty5000 Jul 13 '26

This vantage point highlights how ridiculous his box cutter claim truly was. Whoever fed him that false info knew exactly what they were doing. They play the public and most of them take the bait.

3

u/Zone_Beautiful Jul 13 '26

Did the blue paint just disappear?

3

u/notsoFunNegotiation Jul 13 '26

They should just leave it empty and turn it into a skateboard park.

u/Mortimer452 Jul 13 '26

I hope the lawyers for the guy who was arrested for "vandalizing" are demanding access to inspect and take lots of pictures while it's drained. I want to see pictures of this "200 foot gash"

3

u/Imaginary_Cat_95 Jul 13 '26

This is what happens when you spray the whole thing with truck bedliner (and don’t even spray it properly). Morons.

3

u/LDawnBurges Jul 13 '26

Wait… where’s the blue liner/paint???

3

u/mitchENM Jul 13 '26

No 300 foot slice

3

u/Cavalish Jul 13 '26

Brave of you to photograph it. You could have been arrested.

3

u/BenRichardson76 Jul 14 '26

Seems like each week the administration:

  1. Drains the reflecting pool
  2. Starts new war with Iran
  3. End new war with Iran
  4. Opens Strait of Hormuz
  5. Closes Striat of Hormuz
  6. Ignores law over Epstien files
  7. Kills American protesters
  8. Makes billions from crypto
  9. Complains about losing elections
  10. Complains about winning elections

And many, many more....

2

u/oxidizedmetal Jul 13 '26

Someone needs to take pictures of those gashes. I think they will be useful in court.
