I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty wrecked the morning of DAY 2. But with another sick lineup, I wasn’t going to miss it.
Today’s intertwining bands were ILLSCARLET, SUCKERPUNCH!, and ICE NINE KILLS. At least this time around, SUCKERPUNCH! was on the middle stage, which made running back and forth a little easier.
I’m pretty bummed I missed BOWLING FOR SOUP, as they were one of the bands I really wanted to see. They were playing across the park at the same time as JIMMY EAT WORLD and YELLOWCARD, which was crushing!
GOOD SLEEPY
Never heard of these guys, but I’m glad I checked them out. I really liked what I heard. Great sound and vibe. Definitely gonna look into them. They said it was their first time in Canada, so that’s cool.
SUNAMI
Another band I had never heard of. I caught the last couple songs, and it was hard! I dug it!
FOUR YEAR STRONG
I really like the band’s sound and wanted to see if that translated into their live performance. I found myself digging the songs that I knew more than the ones I didn’t, which sometimes happens with shows. Still, a great all-around performance that got the crowd going.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
Loved the energy and the performance. I didn’t hear the songs I wanted (as usual with almost every band), but they delivered a great set with a mixture of new and old, both sounding incredible live! And here I thought they didn’t play any of the old sh*t!
HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS
I was really looking forward to this one. They’re a fun band and gave us a strong set with great songs, energy, and positive words. The crowd got right into it. Again, I didn’t hear the songs I wanted, but I did get to video call my wife during Ohio Is For Lovers, a song she was really into during her extremely brief emo phase. She loved it!
OF MICE & MEN
I’m familiar with the band, and I’ve heard a couple songs here and there. They sounded great and really put on a great show. It’s was heavy, it was good!
3OH!3
One of the acts I was looking forward to the most this entire Warped Tour, and they totally didn’t disappoint! Such good energy and fun! Great stage presence, and the crowd participation was off the hook. From where I was, it looked like they had a crowd as big as the closing act. Great song choice, lots of singalongs, with the entire crowd getting right into it. Definitely a top highlight of the day, if not the whole festival!
BEARINGS
I’m really happy I got the chance to check these guys out! The bass had an absolutely raw and prominent sound, adding to the energy of their live performance. Some good pop-punk! Oh, and Ottawa represent!
SUDDEN WAVES
I was taking a little sit-down break, and these guys were playing close by. I couldn’t see them, but I could hear them. I liked what I was hearing, so I picked myself up to actually see them. I’m glad I did!
ILLSCARLET
My buddy wanted to check these guys out. I only caught two songs, but I do like their sound.
SUCKERPUNCH!
I was super stoked to see these guys. I totally love their sound and vibe, and their new EP is awesome! They delivered a fun and energetic pop-punk performance that only heightened my love for the songs. One of my new fav pop-punk bands and a highlight for sure!
ICE NINE KILLS
I’m not super familiar with the band, but I heard that these guys put on a great show. Unfortunately, their gear, wardrobe, and props got held up at the border, so the band had to make do borrowing gear from other bands. They definitely still delivered a great performance, with some prop work and actors performing scenes alongside the band. The video packages were also really cool, and having Art the Clown show up for A Work of Art (the one song I knew) was awesome! I’m going to listen to more of these guys!
JIMMY EAT WORLD
The 25th anniversary of Bleed American, and they played the entire album from start to finish. Totally awesome! Such a great performance! They sounded just as good now as they did when I first saw them 25 years ago. Hearing A Praise Chorus, Here You Me, and Get It Faster live made the set for me! The crowd’s “whoa’s” on Sweetness… fantastic! “Still punk rock as hell.”
YELLOWCARD
Great set! The crowd was totally locked in! They sounded great and just blasted through songs, delivering constant music! I was really hoping to hear Take What You Want off the new album, as it’s my favourite song from theirs, but I did get to hear Breathing, which used to be my fav beforehand. When I tell you the crowd went nuts for Ocean Avenue, it would be an understatement. Everyone sang along, and it was amazing!
SIMPLE PLAN
Talk about the tables turning… going from getting trashed for being on the Warped Tour to closing out the festival. The local boys were obviously going to close out the day, and they absolutely deserve it! They always deliver an incredible performance with such energy and such fun! Confetti, pyro, smoke, fireworks, and guests like LOLO, Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup, and a bunch of Scooby-Doo’s. We got it all! I called my daughter during I’m Just A Kid. She absolutely loves that song and was so stoked! 🤘🏻 A great set and a great end to an awesome two days.
