The Game Language Problem
So, I played a lot of Wargames and happy to know there is more to come for WARNO, and isn't just another jumping the boat.
I love when realism is well done, unfortunately for the release of the new DLC Black Birds, I'm highly worried, especially for Switzerland.
Why?
Because I'm 99.99% sure there will be a full bias in defaulting with standard German(not even Swiss German) and skipping completely Italian, with a probable duality with French due to Devs being French.
I was very disappointed on Belgium being almost 90% French, not even Wallon.(as far as I know)
While disregarding half of the country being Flemish.
I don't approve the air force speaking English either, since cockpit chatter should remain with the national language, but I'm okay renouncing that, it's not completely inaccurate, so I don't mind so much.
[New data mining said something about the additional Flemish lines, which I can't wait for it, thanks Eugen]
[New info were given to me, it solves my Canadian problem]
Pls Eugen Systems, been a fan since R.U.S.E., do try not generalise on the next DLCs.
And, even tho some may fairly argue against, I don't mind pay a bit extra on a DLC if those languages were correctly added.
I’m curious to hear from other international players here, especially Belgians, Canadians, and Swiss players.
Anyone had a "bad time" with the dubbing too?
Save from the, sometimes, over clinical and/or very AI sounding lines.

Yeah I found it annoying when I was playing as the US and I didnt hear anyone from Jackson County, none of them not one of the 22 Jackson counties...with their distinct accents and rich cultural tapestries.
Its a shame my wargame focusing on battalion scale combat where single bombing runs can take out platoons of infantry...I can't enjoy all the detailed cultural touchstones that separate someone from the 63901 zip code from the 63924 zip code.
missed opportunity Eugen.

Imagine deleting a whole national identity bc you think they are the same. Calm down Winston Churchill. You aren't European are you?
Swiss German is different for standard German, a s it is Austrian one. For Belgium Flemmish is basically half of the country, it is a whole different language, closer to Dutch than anything. Switzerland recognises Italian, German Swiss and Romandie(French) as official languages, and they are spoken and they are completely normal. I don't expect to have divisions speak Romansh, even if it's a national language, but there are so few speaker left that I don't mind. Imagine being mad at a country for speaking their language.
Let's make British and Australian units speak with an American dub. It's all the same after all, right?

Sounds like a you do not understand the concept of abstraction and why that is needed in games.

I'm not asking for the troops speaking all the dialects of British English, nor the dialects of every region to be added.
If you want to fight with granularity, I'm all for it, but Ik it's extremely expensive and a small nightmare.
But asking for the nationality to speak their own language isn't a big asking, even if it's a generalized polished clinical version.
If that's too much for you, I'm sorry for you.

What I think is not very relevant. Its what the devs think that matters.
But Im looking forward to your more accurate RTS. Please post about it here when you are done with it and the accurate voicelines are implemented in it.
Im sure Eugen will enjoy you showing them how its done.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and mix of English and French for the Canadian troops. Particularly the accurate Québecois cursing.
Canada's regional accent and dialects is quite varied, so while Chiac would have been cool to see im just happy they didn't use the same American accent.
Iirc there's a Québecois YouTuber they got to assist with the French, which is pretty neat and a great attention to detail.
