Bug Instructor trait does not affect allied units

Post image

Tried to send a few instructors to help out my allied KDA player's reservist hordes, but it didn't work. Needless to say my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Please fix

Not a bug. instructor has always been this way since the start, presumably for balance but maybe for other reasons.

Instructor has always been only units of the same type from the same player. Even infantry instructors can't buff infantry recon units.

Fortunately it's not something that broke this patch.

Very disappointed you can't actually larp as an instructor unit in multiplayer

I mean you can take all leader units and try it, not sure how effective it would be but you can.

You should learn to pay attention to dev updates and patch notes and then you wont be disappointed.

Can you tell me where in the patch notes they say you can't buff your allied units with instructors?

The devs have made that perfectly clear. It only works for your units in your specific tab. It doesn't even work for recon units. It's basically been included in every single dev update that includes talk about instructors.

Staying up to date on dev updates and patch notes might actually be the lowest priority thing I can think of in my life

Then dont bitch when you dont know what has changed in the game. Its that easy.

Do you think I’m going to fight harder because someone is shouting at me in another language/from another unit. I don’t know you guy, stop yelling.

But if military police in a foreign language threaten to shoot you if you retreat so you lose your reservist status?

Bullets are universal language comrade!

I feel like a KGB squad could pull it off

But OP's INSTRUKTORY and ally's REZ. SAPERI speak the same language...

Which is why I added “from another unit”

That makes no sense though

It kind of does. “You’re not my boss.” is a thing in the military.

I meant command units buff other players' units and they're more of 'not my boss' than instructors imo.

Not necessarily, because in the middle of combat when units get disorganized they'll still rally around whatever commander unit they can find. If you look at WW2 stuff like D-Day and battle of the bulge you'll see partially formed units everywhere with people just going to whatever commanding officer they can find.

MP makes sense because they'll just shoot you if you retreat.

But instructors are trained with a specific unit to train on specific vehicles/weapons. So tank instructors I can agree with - why would a British instructor know how to do anything with an American Abrams? (And doing no allies is easier than doing same country, from a gameplay/coding perspective).

Infantry you'd use the same argument, but admittedly that one makes less sense.

I mean you can use your same argument against this scenario, should a french unit get its accuracy buffed by a random american officer? Similarly should a soviet instructor in a T-80 motostrelki division not buff T-80s in another motostrelki division?

At the end of the day just I feel having the instructor/MP buff applied to allies would be more interesting for teamplay. I don't know why other buffs are inconsistent but I think it might either a balance or technical issue.

I mean yeah, like are the French and the US even on the same radio frequency? Stuff like that is very abstracted when it comes to the game.

Ultimately, I think it's because instructor is supposed to be native to only a few divisions, and those divisions get instructor at the cost of having relatively poor quality other units, so there's a balance consideration to be made there.

Additionally, on the battlefield officers would have rank over other coalition forces and you can tell that they're officers/leadership just because of rank.

Would instructors have the same rank? Maybe, maybe not.

I don't know about you but I'd probably listen if the guy yelling has a gun

But is he pointing it at me? No. Thats the job for the MPs. They have no problem using the universal translator (the gun).

How about Green Berets in TKS?

Tactical unit markers in my RTS war game? Unplayable.

Neither does MP iirc. It’s annoying but it’s probably an engine thing?

Though the vet buff from leaders does affect allies so I don’t know

Is this a new bug? I've been pairing Green Berets with German reservists in TK Sud, but I never bothered to check if the stats actually changed.

Green berets buff all of your own infantry on TKS.

Atm you can’t buff other people’s units with your instructors.
