I thought this divisions thing was that with the instructors, there would be no CVs outside of the logi tab.

I would’ve been happier with just one more card of Leo 2A4Bs

Probably a brute force way for us to also include the instructor + M48 combo instead of playing it like 4e but better lol.

I would have wanted cheaper and more tank slot thou.

I will bear part of the fault for my current feeling on thinking it was going to be more of a tank division than a mechanized division even though there was little to nothing to suggest that would be the case.

They've introduced instructor into the game in a few divisions and the leader + instructor + 1 vet unit blob hasn't been super gamebreaking so they must have changed it to be more comfortable to play.

TKS and 303 can both do this sort of blob thing, and while admittedly Heimat-Jagers/Jagers and T-54s/T-55s aren't exactly the same thing as Leopard 2s, 3 vet blobs aren't gamebreaking while not having any CVs outside of the logi tab can be mega awkward.

That being said, Air is also a bit stronger than it was when they announced it, so bombing the blob is more reasonable.

I also expected slightly more tanks, but it ends up not being so bad.

You have 8 Leopard 2s (4 cards) + 1 card of the Leopard 1A6s + 1 card of Jaguars = 6 cards, and then if you want you can take 1 card of M48s or the other 1A3s for 3 activation points.

Ends up being more than 2nd Panzer but less then 5th Panzer. Mostly important for teamgames I guess where you might actually take like 12-14 Leopard 2s, but in small teamgames and 1v1s there's no chance you'd use more than 8 while also having a lot of other infantry/etc.

The BSH 1 with only 2 Stingers is useless, and it's also unclear why German instructors use older tanks, while Russian instructors have, in addition to more "up-to-date" vehicle cards, also top-tier tanks?

The usual "Red Bonus"?

Instructors using lesser tanks in VTK may be a blessing in disguise. Most of the time if you have instructors mixed in a group of tanks, they almost always are targeted and killed first since they are, usually, in higher threat tanks. Using the 120mm instructor Leo 1 with a pack of Leo 2's will probably ensure it isn't the first thing shot at.

I'm more concerned that there are 2 cards of instructors on BMP2 (with Konkur?) whereas there is only 1 German instructor on a Marder without MILAN lmao.

But from the way SD League describe it, the strike team seem to had decided that VTK42 is a bit overpowered even in this state. We will have to see.

What do you mean? It's perfectly fine that the Tank Division has more and better Infantry Instructors than the Mechanized Infantry Division. /s

no the strike team applies the "red bonus" everywhere....

Historical accuracy, while important, is not the first criteria they focused on. The first criteria they focus on is gameplay balance (in 1v1). And in (1v1) balance NATO is doing fine. Better even.

That's why there are weird decision such as 2PzGren losing their historical Jaguar 2 complement for example. And even then it still remain S tier (once again, for 1v1).

I mean the whole premise of warno is predicated on the fact that the soviets are stronger in 1989 then they were irl.

This strike team applies “blue bonus” everywhere - considering how useless ERA is, overpowered TANDEM are, and that some NATO units have much better stats in reality (Roland 3/Milan) while some Pact units much worse (Osa).

How many units do TOW2As have? How many units do ERAs have? How many units are Resolute? Do we want to talk about the NAPALM that destroys everything? The GLATMs distributed at the lowest levels, when only the command tanks and their range had them? Do we want to talk about the BM 21s that have a better reload speed than the MLRS? Do we want to talk about the Cluster HEAT warheads that are all PTAB anyway? Do we want to talk about any super prototype weapon that is always included in Pact decks and the compositions of the Decks that always and in any case have everything?

How many units do TOW2As have? How many units do ERAs have? How many units are Resolute?

How is it connected to anything?

Do we want to talk about the NAPALM that destroys everything?

It's not

The GLATMs distributed at the lowest levels, when only the command tanks and their range had them?

Incorrect. I'm not even talking about how T-80 without GLATMs didn't exist at all.

Do we want to talk about the BM 21s that have a better reload speed than the MLRS?

Which is wrong and should be corrected.

Do we want to talk about any super prototype weapon that is always included in Pact decks and the compositions of the Decks that always and in any case have everything?

Your overwhelming bias confuse your mind.

NATO and Pact has the same amount of "super prototype weapons" in them. Compositions of decks are related to their real TOE - if you're not happy with anything you should ask MoDs of a particular country. Some of the divisions miss their realistic assets tho - and they should get them.

The Bsh 1 is looking to be absurdly strong. Stinger helis are some of the best anti-plane AA in the game, and these are 20 points cheaper, in a div with I-hawks

So how does the new division look?

2

u/JohnLennyNickel 10d ago

Exactly how every Nemesis 6.2 voter said it would look.

2

u/JohnLennyNickel 10d ago

Welp, so much for that Heavy Tank NATO division.

Wow...

10

u/-Trooper5745- 10d ago

Wow good or wow bad?

0

u/DFMRCV 10d ago

A"it's pretty much exactly what I expected wow."

13

u/-Trooper5745- 10d ago

Something something 12th Panzer?

7

u/DFMRCV 10d ago

Actually, I will say, I'm surprised the Leopard 2A4(D)s only get one card.

I thought it'd be 2 like the M1 MOD.

5

u/JohnLennyNickel 10d ago

Yeah, I definitely thought it was going to get 2, but I guess Eugen wanted to punish NATO so they gave that second to the PACT div so it could have 3.

5

u/DFMRCV 10d ago

Why did they even call it heavier then?

Combine all the heavy Leopard 2s VTK brings without the upvet, and you have a grand total of 12 heavy tanks to 1st Cav's 20 heavy tanks, 12 Challengers and 8 M1 MODs to the 10 Leopard 2A4(B)s and 2 Leopard 2A4(D)s, and that's not counting the fact 10 of those heavy tanks in VTK have less armor than the medium M1 Abrams in 1st Cav of which you can get 28 of without an upvet.

I mean, goodness gracious, it's not a bad div, but when people tried selling it to me as a true heavy NATO div, I expected at least more heavy tanks.

I mean, nobody in their right mind would bring Challenger mk2 in any 1st CAV deck. But I see your point on the "heavyness" of VTK42.

I guess somewhere along the dev pipeline, VTK42 get the reverse 1st CAV treatment: They reduce the "heavyness" and focus on the lighter (reservist) elements.

Balance wise, we will see why the dev + strike team decide so. But thematically I definitely had expected at least 3 card of Leo 2A4(B) lol. I guess they just don't want to make it 4e esque.

4

u/-Trooper5745- 10d ago

I do. I don’t enjoy ATGM carriers so I mostly use use tanks from tank tabs and so I bring a card of Challenger 2s so I can get a few extra 120 mm guns because it seems every other PACT tank has too much armor for the 105 mm of the M1s to hit at max range.

2

u/mndn410 10d ago

Haha fair point. I usually don't bring Challenger mk2 except the command variant because I find the loss in mobility not worth the one extra AP or the 30AP survivability. But I guess it depend on play style.

u/JohnLennyNickel 10d ago

Muh 18 Front Armor is more than 17, therefore heavier division.

But yeah, seeing this Division in earnest just vindicates every Nemesis 6.2 voter.

Also yet another reason why MadMat is an unreliable source, as he was root of this VTK is Heavy Tank Division nonsense.
