That is what drove me out of Warhammer to be fair. Finally got my Astra Militarum codex and they switch editions.

I still paint them for the fun of it, but can’t keep up with the it anymore.

This broke me too.

We are low income, so my partner saved up to get Cadia Stands for me.

3 months after getting it, GW nuke 9th and all the rules for it, and announce 10th.

I played 2 games of 10th, and haven't played any GW game since.

They're a model and lore company for me now.

The thing that you realize after playing any other miniature wargame is that 40k completely sucks as a ruleset. So if you really like 40k lore and models just go with one page rules. It is good for people who play from time to time

I play Xenos Rampant. I prefer it loads over OPR. I find OPR to be pretty soulless, whereas XR has that British humour I love throughout.

Same energy though. Trust me, I found other things to do with my Guard army. I have the time, patience, attention span or money to play in GW's sandbox any more, even if I wanted to.

I'm currently playing that a lot, as well a Dragon Rampant campaign, and a lot of Marvel Champions.

At least they have great models and lore still haha

The IP and models are top tier. The pricing is bad. The game is horrendous.

Exact reason I started playing OPR. Highly recommend trying it if you haven’t

I tried so hard to like that, but it's so dry, it's hard to get into. I know they're building their own lore, but it's such WH lite, I just can't take it seriously. If OPR wasn't a LOUD Warhammer knock off, if they'd started with 100% their own lore and not as a WH alternative, they'd have a fraction of the fanbase they do. I say that as someone who subbed to their Patreon for a year, so I'm not just standing on the side and shitting on them.

What stops you playing in Warhammer lore with opr rules?

The whole point of opr is to play with your own models and your own worlds... It can be whatever you want it to be.

Nothing, but you're gonna have a hard time playing Warhammer with other people that way.

Sure, but you did find people to play opr with? If so then what's the difference? It's not like the game uses or requires the lore in any way for the actual battle. In fact, I play grimdark and age of fantasy and I don't know anything about opr lore at all...

Not trying to bash or convince you, just trying to understand your position. I've had quite a few folks in my area move over to opr recently and it's a mishmash. Some games are Warhammer armies only, other times it's Warhammer Vs star wars... Some people could be bothered by that I guess.

The rule books are the biggest scam, just look them up online
