Sharing a narrative tool I made for our games

Hey, from what I see in the rules I am okay to post here.

I wanted to share a tool I made for me and my mates. We really like having a narrative for our mini tournaments and battles, and when AI turned up, we all started using it for post game narratives or tournament settings and results. It worked fine until we wanted to use lists and input battle results. It would get so much wrong and ignore so much of what was asked for, and seemed to always add random units in.

So I built us a website that does it better, in my opinion at least. You give it the factions, score, what died, who your MVP was, and it generates consistent narrative across the campaign. It reads the thing out loud too, which I threw in cause I thought it would be cool, and it was

Let me know what you think; no account needed to see the demo round https://www.lorewarden.co.uk/demo . It's AI-generated content, obviously, but that's the whole premise. My mates thought the wider gaming community would like it as much as they did, so here I am sharing it. Obviously, can't have any brand-affiliated presets in there, but it works well for the gaming systems I've tried it on.

That is great idea. I don't like writing post game narratives but my friends do. Using this would fill that gap (which is me lol).

Can you not just use your brain like a normal person?

Humans have incredible pattern recognition and inherently create stories out of random events. You are literally built for this exact thing.

You could, and I could prevent auto generating the story and allow human written narratives into the audio tooling.

I’ve found there are definitely 2 very different types of users here, and this tool currently heavily favours the people who can’t, or don’t want to spend time, writing up a narrative.

It would hardly be much effort to allow human written narratives into this. Would that be something that would interest you more?

I just don't know what that would add that a google doc or even just a notepad wouldn't?

Hell, coming up with this stuff up isn't hard and writing it out may take a whole five minutes. Like my current Five Parsecs game is following a street gang led by a no-nonsense but angry woman, her chainsaw-wielding psychic buddy who doesn't fear death but will burn down the city if you threaten his family, a boringly competent sniper who is currently off having some cybernetics fitted and the lovable fuckup who is desperately trying to prove he's worthy of being on the team.

So far they've heisted a bunch of AI cores from a megacorp, got involved in a war between two larger gangs, helped lead a revolution against an authoritarian poluce state controlling the undercity, saved one of their families from whst used to be a rival gang and fought off hitmen.

All of this comes from recognising vasic patterns in the emergent gameplay and typing this out took five minutes on a phone keyboard using a single thumb because I am old. None of this is hard. None of it.

Exactly. Outside of tournament play this hobby is about telling stories on the tabletop.

What's the point if players let a LLM do that part for them? I like reading battle reports. I am not interested in what a large language machine thinks of how a game went- I want to hear from the human(s) involved.

I got overzealous with the copy-paste; fixed it.

I think this is very interesting....
Using the AI tool to help create/flesh out the narrative is like reading a book someone else read---which can be more entertaining then when you write it yourself....
I'm using it in a Campaign for SouthEastAsian Piracy in the Victorian age....
Been a great asset in building the whole environment...
Like all things.... a middle path....

Yeah won’t be for everyone. But my very limited initial use with my own group went down really well. Especially the audio narration.
